12 January 2007: Oh, the Addictive Drama of War
When we know we're right, it's so intoxicating to stand up and shake our fist.   Do we choose an eye for an eye, or turn the other cheek?   There is a third path, and it's time for all of us to choose it.   No, we can't say what it is, because we haven't gone down it yet, have we.   The gate to it is as hidden as the back door to the Dragon's lair.   We just know by now that neither war nor capitulation work.   So whadda we do?   We intend.   We let go of the intoxification of righteousness, we let go of the false pride of humility, and we stand straight, chin level, and consciously channel all this power into that third way we don't know yet.   When we take out all the righteousness and fear, that's what's here, raw Power.   We need to use it just right, or it'll bite us in the butt.

Mars, out of bounds, begins a new cycle with Pluto on 12 January at 28 Sagittarius (An old bridge over a beautiful stream is still in constant use).   Ceres begins a new cycle with Uranus on 3 February in 13 Pisces (An ancient sword, used in many historical battles, is now retired in a museum).   Let's assume for a moment that this beautiful stream is harmony, peace, the effortless path that nature intends us to take.   Then this old bridge would be the shortcut that commerce decrees is necessary "for the common good," which of course really means for the good of greed.   "But we gotta feed the people," says the God of Commerce.   Of course the God of Commerce is so very good at stoking the people's need to be fed ever more and better, but we'll let that go for now.   And of course "the people" is actually our tribe, and of course that other tribe wants more and better too, so of course the bridge ends up being the path to war.   So how do we find this third way, besides war or capitulation?   Well, lets look to Saturn, symbolizing our power to focus, and Pallas, symbolizing our power to negotiate around war.
Saturn is working on a closing trine to Pluto, complete in August 2007.   This trine is beyond the Saturn-Pluto phitile, representing what we've learned from the Saturn-Pluto cycle that's beginning to wind down.   Recall that 9/11, the excuse for the Iraq War, was the crowning event of the Saturn-Pluto culmination.   That cycle began 9 November 1982 at 28 Libra, "a person becoming aware of spiritual forces surrounding and assisting them."   This suggests that we don't try so much to focus on what we want, but that we ask for what we want, exercising our trust that all prayers are in fact answered, whether we notice or not.
Pluto last initiated Pallas recently, 27 January 2006, at 26 Sadge, "A flag bearer in a battle; are you ready to assume the role of a conscious and responsible agent for all of humanity?" (Rudhyar 1973 p.225) - quite a challenge to us, eh?
The Mars-Pallas cycle is dying; the next one begins 13 April 2007 at 6 Pisces, "A parade of army officers in full dress: the dedication of human beings to the service of their community, and the assurance that it will be emotionally sustained by the people at large" (
op.cit. p.272).   Easy to see the next several months as a watershed between "community service" for war and community service for peace.
Pallas is about to be initiated by Chiron, on 23 January at 10 Aqua, "A man who had for a time become the embodiment of a popular ideal is made to realize that as a person he is not this ideal." We can think of an example or two of who such "a man" might be.   But this begs for a broader interpretation.   Rudhyar goes on, "The need to deal with human beings as persons rather than as screens upon which one projects one's dream and ideal" (
op.cit. p.254).   Again, we must intend a third way.

1 January 2007
The most prominent theme of 2007 is release, particularly in the year's first half
(1).   We are opening to drastically different orientations toward Life, the Universe, and Everything, and to prepare for that we must release the old notions that limit us (2).   Unfortunately, those old notions also provide us security, through the illusion that we know what's happening.   So along the way some grief, and even fear, is inevitable.   Fear and grief are both natural responses to seismic changes in our beliefs about the World.   What's important is that we respond lovingly whenever either one arises (2a).
Sabres may rattle in the last half of January
(3) and in April (4), but they should be sheathed by February (5) and June (6).   There is a teaching underway that the old violent ways of dealing with conflict no longer work (7).   But the deepest healing process is in a hidden phase (8), so the forces of violence must learn through their own failure to prevail (8a).   The last half of 2007 feels more constructive (9).
While most of our attention will be focused on what we're letting go of, there is a strong constructive process in play in 2007, and that's a deepening commitment to integrity
(10).   We can't talk about integrity without distinguishing yin integrity from yang integrity.   Yang integrity is about doing what you said you was gonna do.   Yin integrity is about doing what you dang well feel like doing, though of course yin integrity also means you call to say you changed your mind when it conflicts with yang integrity.
No discussion of early 21st-century time would be complete without considering sustainability
(11).   Global Warming was a prominent theme during 2006, and while it's not nearly so out-front in 2007, it remains strong, likely grabbing headlines in February (12) and July (13).
(1) Of the major squares and trines in the 1/1/07 chart, all but one are closing (that is, they follow their respective oppositions).
(2) We're in the middle of Saturn opposing Neptune, August 2006 through June 2007, which cycle began in March 1989 at 12 Capricorn, "An illustrated lecture on natural science reveals little-known aspects of life."   In the 1/1/2000 chart (for the century and particularly the decade), Neptune conjoined Ketu, which we regard as "Loss of the Veil."   In 2007, Neptune septiles Pluto.   Power grows in secret at the septile.   The Neptune-Pluto cycle began 2 August 1891 at 9 Gemini, "A quiver filled with arrows."   Pallas begins new cycles with Chiron on 23 January at 10 Aquarius (Disidentification from ideals) and with Neptune on 23 February at 13 Aqua (Disillusionment).   See also Venus-Mars below.
(2a) Mars begins a new cycle with Neptune on 25 March at 22 Aqua (A new rug in a nursery brings warmth and comfort).
(3) Mars begins a new cycle with Pluto on 12 January at 28 Sagittarius (An old bridge over a beautiful stream is still in constant use).
(4) Mars begins new cycles with Pallas on 3 April at 6 Pisces (Army officers in full parade dress) and with Uranus on 28 April at 18 Pisces (A village views a spectacle in a giant tent).
(5) Ceres begins a new cycle with Uranus on 3 February in 13 Pisces (An ancient sword, used in many historical battles, is now retired in a museum).
(6) Pallas begins a new cycle with Uranus on 18 June in 19 Pisces (A master instructing a disciple).
(7) Uranus quintiles Pluto.   This cycle began in October 1965 at 18 Virgo (A Ouija board), opposite Chiron.   This is the cycle that reaches the critical stage in 2012.   See also (2a) above
(8) Chiron noviles Pluto. The Chiron-Pluto cycle began 30 December 1999 at 12 Sadge (A flag transforming to an Eagle which in turn transforms to a Rooster), and the novile is about contemplation.   Mars begins a new cycle with Chiron on 15 March at 14 Aqua (A train entering a tunnel).   Mars-Chiron is the energy we use for healing.
(8a) The 1/1/2000 chart featured a grand cross between Moon, Pallas, Saturn, and Uranus.
(9) Vesta is initiated by Jupiter on 30 August at 11 Sadge (In the left section of a temple a human-shaped lamp burns) and by Pluto on 11 October at 27 Sadge (A sculptor at work).   Pluto initiates Jupiter on 11 December at 29 Sadge (A fat boy mowing the lawn of his house in an elegant suburb).   See also (13) below.
(10) In the 1/1/2007 chart Uranus tsquares an out-of-bounds Moon opposite Jupiter, and Moon-Uranus is the only opening square in the chart (the opening square occurs prior to the opposition).   Uranus represents yin integrity, and the Moon, especially when it's out of bounds, signifies emotional attachment.   The outer planets are all behind the Sun in the northern winter.   See also (6) above.
(11) Ceres conjoined the Ascendant of the 1 January 2000 chart.
(12) See (5) above.
(13) Mars begins a new cycle with Ceres on 10 July in 12 Taurus (A young couple window-shopping).

24 October 2006: Letting Go and Moving On
We finish two years of self-exploration, during which time we've learned a lot about our own emotions, how they operate in relationship, and how they lead us to God.   Now the current shifts, and we spend the next couple of years learning about letting go of what we've enjoyed, in order to allow deeper and broader satisfaction and meaning into our lives.   The more intense it feels, the more important it is to let it go.   Within a year or so, we'll see a lot more people feeling strongly about protecting their home planet from abusive profiteers, and helping their planetmates of all stripes survive sustainably.

Venus-Mars-Sun conjunction at 11pm PDT on 24 October in 2 Scorpio, "A delicate bottle of perfume lies broken, releasing its fragrance: the accidental nature of opportunities that impel one to break away from a past, the remembrance of which is still poignant and cherished.   A new and greater realization usually demands the sacrifice of something which has brought loveliness and fragance to a lesser form of living and feeling" [Rudhyar 1973].   The conjunction squares Chiron from behind.   The new Crescent Moon is out of bounds, and an out-of-bounds Ceres moves toward conjunction with a stationary Neptune.

22 September 2006: Focus, Focus, Focus
This is a theme for the next nine months: Focus, Focus, Focus.   Growth doesn't occur because we encounter something new, it occurs because we begin to distinguish some feature from the background noise.   The feature was there all along, we just weren't attending to it.   Our intention is a powerful tool for choosing what it is that we want to change.   Manifestation follows attention.   Be watchful for grief.   It's less important to know what it is we're grieving - it may not even be personal - than it is to allow room for the grief in our life.   That means being gentle with ourself and giving ourself as much open time and space as it takes.   Grief has its own timetable, it can't be rushed.   Other things just have to wait for it to finish, particularly our "shoulds" and guilts.   Don't let anyone guilt-trip you about your selfishness - this adventure is about the way you want to shape the world.   Let them take responsibility for how they want to shape the world.

Annular solar eclipse at 5am PDT on 22 September in 30 Virgo, "Totally intent upon completing an immediate task, a person is deaf to any allurement: the total concentration required for reaching any spiritual goal" [Rudhyar 1973].   Meanwhile, Pluto squares the Dragon from the Galactic Center, while Juno, Venus and Vesta cling to the Dragon's Tail.   30 Virgo is the last degree of the personal half of the zodiac, the final flushing of self-focus before the transpersonal half begins.   Be careful not to see the transpersonal as good and the personal as bad - our personal work underlies our transpersonal work, and is thus even more important than our transpersonal work per se, because without our underlying personal foundation, our transpersonal edifices are merely sham projections of our unfinished personal business.

It's not the ego per se that's melting, it's our realization that what we thought was hard reality is just a mirage.   The net result is that we have to take more responsibility for the shape of our World.   Not they have to take more responsibility for the shape of the World, but we have to take more responsibility for the shape of our World.   This energy symbolizes a contrast between Personal Identity and Connection to Spirit.   So to the extent that we identify with the material world or the personal ego in a way that's inconsistent with our Oneness with All, this could be a painful ego death.   To the extent that we identify with our God-connection, this can be a glorious opening to Spirit.   We choose, moment to moment.   If any pain arises, open your Heart and Mind to it, find a picture in which the pain is a blessing, and embrace it.   The energy is not about the individual soul, so it isn't about our spiritual path per se, it's about the Universal Oneness.   So even if we identify with our own Spiritual process, we can still be called to a larger vision of it.   The energy is about what we personally hold sacred, so it will be easy for any of us to assume that they aren't doing it right, but also easy for us to see beyond those limits.   It's a good time to review our boundaries, both those which shield us from our dislikes, and those which tie us to what and who we love, but as always it's more powerful to respond to what surprises us, than to act to head off surprises.

Reconsidering our boundaries.   When do we stand up for our own needs, and when do we yield to the needs of the Other?   Can we hold out for win-win?   It's about trial-and-learn, experimenting, letting ourself look foolish, giving ourself permission to not have to get it right the first time.   Actually, it's always about that, isn't it.   Just a little louder now.

Feel the "emptiness"?   It's not emptiness at all, really, it's just that we've suddenly expanded by a factor of about five, so it's not surprising if we have a hard time finding the railings.   Be mindful of your thoughts here, as our intentions are even more powerful than usual, and each thought is an intention, as is each feeling.   Take it easy, this is heady stuff.   But don't hold back.
The Saturn-Chiron energy that's dominated the last 20 years has climaxed, and we've opened out of a tsquare with a stationary Jupiter near the power point of Scorpio.   Big Changes, in other words.

This is the last chapter of a project we've been working on since 1987.   It's mostly about healing despair or hopelessness, but it's more subtle than that.   The real opportunities hide in the places where you believe that you or the World are actually limited, where you don't expect miracles.   These are the places where you "despair" unconsciously, the places where you believe that Grace isn't huge enough to allow you to see your most incredible dreams made manifest, where you don't even know you're stuck in hopelessness.   What would that be for you, the places where you believe that the World can't deliver lasting ecstasy to you?   See if you can open up around those places, dream a little, imagine a miracle or two.   If you find any pain at all here, particularly before 23 June, embrace it.   Meet it softly, gently, lovingly.   The World will open up like a Spring morning between 23 June and 6 July.   It will take five years for this energy to fade away completely.   If despair visits you over that time period, it will just be an echo.   Put your arm around it and take it for a walk in the park.   We're done with hopelessness, but of course we'll have flashbacks, we always do.   Just hallucinations, we won't need to take them seriously.
This is the last opposition between Saturn and Chiron, finishing a pattern that's been with us since the Harmonic Convergence.   It occurs at 10 Leo.   The initiation was 13 April 1966 at 24 Pisces, "On a small island surrounded by the vast expanse of the sea, people are seen living in close interaction."   Not a simple initiation, it was conjunct Pallas, square Jupiter, and trine to Neptune-Ketu, with the Moon and Vesta out of bounds.   The Uranus-Pluto conjunction of 9 October 1965, which itself opposed Chiron and sextiled Neptune, was still exact at 18 Virgo, "A ouija board."   The Uranus-Pluto links Saturn-Chiron to 2012, and the Neptune-Ketu links it to 1/1/2000.   As at the Saturn-Chiron initiation, the current opposition squares Jupiter, and the Jupiter-Saturn initiation was the one in May 2000 which ended the Dot.Com Boom - "A jewelry shop filled with valuable gems," 23 Taurus.   The Saturn-Chiron culmination runs through September 2011.   This last opposition is also not simple.   Uranus, Jupiter, Juno, Vesta, and Mars are all intimately involved, and Jupiter is stationary through 6 July.

If there's anything you've been wanting to say to the people who are most important to you, but you haven't yet figured out how to say it clearly or cleanly, no worries, it comes out between 7pm PDT and 10pm PDT on 30 May, whether you're ready for it or not.   It's good, to get these difficult things out in the open like this, it needs to happen to clear the air, so keep your mindbone tuned to the positive while it's happening and afterwards.   If you aren't sure whether they'll ever speak to you again, ask them.   If you aren't sure whether you'll ever speak to them again, tell them.   They need to know whether they've just irritated you, or violated your most sacred trust, and you need to know this about them.   To a fundamentalist (someone who believes their own mythology - but don't we all?) it could seem like a life-and-death thing.
In the bigger picture (22 May through July), there's a shift into new territory for our primary relationship and our memberships.   Our memberships are the organized or unorganized groups, the social trends, and the political/religious beliefs with which we identify, or in which we invest ego energy.   That is, an affront to such groups or beliefs, is felt as a direct affront to us.   Our family of origin makes a fine example, as does a deeply-held value.   These memberships are a lot more important than most of us realize, as their exploration is probably the most productive avenue we have for spiritual growth.   Not to discount the impact of such a shift on our primary relationship, especially our relationship with ourself.   In relationship, it's important here to stay focused on curiosity - what is it that you can newly learn about your partner and/or yourself here, rather than focusing on how your partner or yourself may be disappointing your expectations.   The shift could begin with some fireworks.   The major consequence here is that we won't know what we're doing or who we are.   It's an important time to recall what Fritz Perls said, that "confusion is good," as confusion indicates that we're growing beyond the mental cages that have kept us confined to a narrow view of "reality" and have hence limited our ability to manifest what we want and need (see below).   How do you respond emotionally to confusion?   Anger is common, as are fear and grief.   It would be a powerful jump to use this opportunity to become aware of our habitual response to confusion, so that in the future we could examine the source of that emotion to see if confusion was the trigger.   Then we could redirect our thoughts, and rather than allowing our thoughts to serve the secondary emotion by providing justifications for our anger or fear or grief, we could focus our attention on the excitement of growing into unexplored territory.

Mars initiates Juno at 28 Cancer ("A Native girl introduces her white lover to her assembled tribe") on 29 May, squared by Venus on 23 May from 24 Aries.   The cycle culminates between 1 June and 13 August 2007, and lights up strongly in February 2007.   The prior cycle initiated 5 December 2002 at 3 Scorpio, "A house-raising party in a small village enlists the neighbors' cooperation."   The out-of-bounds Moonbone crosses Mars-Juno at around 10pm PDT on 30 May, while an out-of-bounds Mercury moves into opposition with a Galactic-Center-aligned Pluto, culminating a cycle which began at New Year in 25 Sadge, "A chubby boy on a hobby-horse: The anticipatory enjoyment of powers one can only as yet dream of utilizing" [Rudhyar 1973 p.224].

What we're doing here, and why.

What we're doing here, is "reading the stars" not for any individual, but for the Planet as a whole.   Each paragraph describes an energy or wavelength that's impacting the Planet, with an approximate timeline for it.   At any given time, we put the most important energies at the beginning.   As a cell of the Planetary Being, on some level you'll be experiencing what we write about, though every individual will experience it differently.   Bear in mind that when anyone "reads the stars" out loud, they can't help but make an interpretation, and every interpretation is one out of a great many possibilities.   So you may have to stretch your imagination to see how a given energy is affecting you.   Sometimes such a stretch will be very useful to you, sometimes not.

Why do we do this?   It's simple, if obtuse.   So you won't bother personalizing these energies.   What does that mean?   Well, each of us is impacted by our own personal "work," but we're also impacted by the "work" of our culture, and the "work" of our Planet.   The way we deal with each of these "works" should be quite different.   For instance, if your culture shifts toward fascism, you might respond by enriching yourself on opportunities it offers you, by resisting it, or by visualizing its opposite, so as not to feed the shift.   But if you see yourself shifting toward fascism, we would hope you'd rush to seek counseling.   With Planetary energies, we believe the appropriate response is usually to take advantage of the opportunities they offer us, and this is how our interpretations are structured.   There's little to be gained by resisting Planetary energies, because they're simply too big.   But a lot can be gained by interpreting them positively.   For instance, Saturn-Pluto energy, as was about in the last half of 2001, can feel dreadful.   But the core of Saturn-Pluto energy is a very powerful one-pointed focus.   Knowing that, you can direct that focus into intentions that align with your personal values.

Knowing which energies to personalize and which not to personalize can help you let go of them.   As a friend once said, "I know that 'this too shall pass,' but you know when!"   If you don't like the feel of an energy, you always have at least three choices: you can let it go, you can move more deeply into it, or you can embrace it.   The first option is always to let it go, because that's the nature of energy, it's always moving on.   If letting go doesn't work, then moving more deeply into it can be a great teacher.   The difference between moving into it and embracing it, is that you become the energy when you move into it, and you separate yourself from the energy when you embrace it.   You step out of the energy in order to reach back and embrace it, rather than stepping into it.   Knowing that an energy is temporary, how long you're likely to have to endure it, and that it may not even be yours, but the Planet's, can be a great aid to letting go and moving on.   When we're conscious of an energy, it fades quickly when it's finished.   When we aren't conscious of it, it can linger in our field long after it's gone from the Planet's field, simply because we haven't let it go.

At the end of each paragraph, in gray text, we describe what it is about the stars that we're interpreting.   If you know some astrology, you may make more sense out of the energy by reading the gray text, though of course even the choice of what to include and what not to include, is an interpretation in itself.   We use some strange terms, most of which are explained in our glossary.

And what's with the rocks?

Each type of crystal, or mineral, has it's own distinct energy, wavelength, or vibration.   Your own response to any given mineral, at any given time, will be different, depending on your (physical/emotional/mental/spiritual) body's needs at that moment.   You can find books which tell you how each mineral is likely to impact you, and some of them are quite good.   The best book for you is the one that you resonate with - get to know a mineral or two, and then look them up in the book to see if you relate to the book's stories about the mineral.   In the end, though, your response to each mineral will be uniquely yours, and you may resonate with one crystal one day, and another the next.   Since crystals can be expensive, we put these pictures of them here so you can "try them on" to see how they fit before you buy one.   And the picture conveys some of the vibration of the stone itself, so often it may be enough to gaze at the picture.

18 April through 20 October 2006 (waxing through 16 September)
This is a really beautiful gift to us.   All of our self-sabotaging patterns come up for healing, and they arise in benign ways.   Usually we have to shoot our foot clean off before we pay attention and get motivated to change the habits that mess up our lives.   Here our True Self is so strong and clear that we notice right away when we start to betray ourself, and change course easily.   Declare this intention, and it'll be easier yet!
Uranus initiates Venus at 14 Pisces, "A lady wrapped in a large stole of Fox fur," on 18 April, making a grand trine to Jupiter at the Power Point of Scorpio and Vesta out of bounds, while out-of-bounds Mars squares the Dragon and Mercury rides the Dragon's Head.   The Venus-Uranus culmination spans 16 September to 20 October.

13 April through 3 June 2006 (steady)
A softening of the hard edge of doingness that our nervousness has pushed us into for the last few months, making it easier now to be loving and gentle with ourselves.   The gift here is that it will be easy to practice being outside of ourself.   This is a critical skill as we move into June.   There is a huge difference between leaving our bodies and being outside of ourself.   When we leave our bodies, we leave no one home to inhabit the present moment.   When we step outside of ourself, we're fully present to embrace ourself, much more so than when we're simply inhabiting our body naturally.   Some of us - perhaps a mythical "some" - have never had to leave our body, so we can inhabit it comfortably and naturally.   For those of us who have suffered trauma of some kind or degree, we have to stand next to ourself, and reach back lovingly into ourself, to reintegrate the soul fragments that split off under duress.   When we try to relate to another person before we've done this work, only fractions of ourself are available to connect.
Mars in Cancer.   Mars is initiated by Juno on 30 May at 28 Cancer, "A Native American girl introduces her white lover to her assembled tribe: Inner rebirth through a total acceptance of the primordial values manifest in the human body and its natural functions" [Rudhyar 1973 p.128].   Mars also opposes Pallas on 16 May, beginning the last phase of a long-running culmination that spans 5 June 2005 through 7 July 2006.   The Mars-Pallas cycle began 7 January 2004 at 14 Aries, "A Serpent coiling near an Man and a Woman: Identification in bipolar relationship with the impersonal rhythm of natural energy" [Rudhyar 1973 p.59].   Rudhyar goes on to say something germinal relative to the current time: "The Serpent represents the acceptance of relationship by the two polarized human beings.   There must be polarization before there can be fulfillment... [We] do not understand... the meaning of entering into the Serpent, ie of developing eonic consciousness and that transpersonal living which was once characterized by the words: Not I live, but Christ lives me" [pp.59-60].

5 April through 16 June 2006 (waxing till 7 April then waning slowly)
An important homecoming, do please take advantage of it.   In mid-June we enter the final phase of
the 20-year process of owning our own healing.   As we move toward June, we could encounter whatever old despair still lurks in our personal dungeons, mirroring the keening of the planet as we reach the extremes of the decade's polarizations.   April is about opening the drapes and sweeping the cobwebs from the dark corners of our dungeons, so we're clear during May and June that there is no need for hopelessness in the present moment.   If we're clear about that, then we have no doubt that the despair we see is old, and clear that the only appropriate response is compassion for those who are despairing, particularly if it's us.   We're clearing the space for a mid-June launch onto a whole new journey.
Mars-Pluto culmination from 7 April till 16 June 2006, culminating the initiation on 28 January 2005 in 24 Sadge, "A Bluebird perched on the gate of a cottage."   This is the Bluebird that sat between "Two lovebirds sitting on a fence" and "Illuminated by a shaft of Light, a large cross lies on rocks surrounded by sea mist " (see Relationship 2002-2005).   The culmination drops us directly into a Mars-Vesta-Saturn triple initiation on 17 June in 9 Leo, "Glass blowers shape beautiful vases with their controlled breathing."   That is, remember to breathe, and the result will be lovely.   Then on 18 June Uranus begins a retreat at 15 Pisces ("An officer instructing his men before a simulated assault under a barrage of live shells").   And of course the final Saturn-Chiron opposition is 19 June, with the Jupiter square exact a few days later.   It's a busy time.   They're both back in-bounds by mid-June, but recall that Mars and Vesta have been out of bounds lately - Mars from 6 March through 17 May and Vesta from 14 January through 28 May.   The Uranus retreat spans 11-15 Pisces, lasts till 19 November, and its shadow period spans 2 March 2006 through 6 March 2007.   Pisces 11 is "People traveling a narrow path, seeking illumination."   The essence of Uranus energy is Integrity, and its perversion is Obedience and Rebellion.   So the overall picture is about giving up our excuses for being the way other folks wanted us to be, and allowing ourselves to be ourself.

29 March through 5 April 2006 (waxing)
As Neil Young put it so long ago, "Don't let it bring you down, it's only castles burning."   It's just Change, in other words, you can adapt.   Yes, you're thinking about who you are and what that means, but you really don't need to take it so seriously.   In fact, both you and The World will be much better off if you don't take it so seriously.   It's not about what you say or do, it's about who you really are, and the less you think about that, the more Integrity you'll manifest.   Integrity is particularly important in your relationships.   It'll feel stressful, giving up the mask that your parents said you had to wear, like it or not.   But that's what we're doing.   It'd be good to make a game of it.   It's been an emotional winter/summer, but in the long run well worth it.   You may encounter some despair in here - if you do, love it to death, it's just old movies.   If it aint fun, just take your bonbons and leave the theater.
At
6am PDT on 5 April, Saturn finishes a retreat through 5-12 of Leo, maintaining a close waxing trine to Rahu through the whole retreat.   The retreat began on 22 November 2005 and the shadow period spans 19 August 2005 through 10 July 2006.   The retreat began with Venus and Ceres out of bounds, and finishes with Mars and Vesta out of bounds and Juno squaring the Moon's Nodes from the Mars-Vesta midpoint, as the First Quarter Moon makes a tsquare to Pallas.   The vacancies are 4 Capricorn (Juno-Nodes) and 16 Libra (Pallas-Moon) - you might find it all a bit more trying if you have a hot spot in either place.

28 March through 21 September 2006 (waning)
After the huge download at the end of March, we gradually integrate the new energies into our lives, in preparation for the big transitions of 2012.   It's something about getting serious around what we hold sacred, but we don't even have to be conscious and clear about it, we just have to be willing to say NO when it's necessary.   One of the most important things to remember is that it's never either/or, it's always both/and.   Someone else's very different beliefs do not negate yours.   If you have to deal directly with folks who seem determined to destroy what you hold sacred, don't resist it.   It's not about defending what you hold sacred, it's about honoring it.   Just as an example, let's say you believe in Fairies, or World Peace, but the Town Bully is going around stomping on Fairies and destroying the Peace.   Do you martyr yourself?   Sometimes you would.   But not here.   In this time you meet secretly with the other folks who still believe in Fairies and World Peace, and strengthen what you believe in through mutual support and nonjudgmental community.   That's the most important work to be done.   Resisting the Bully is just more war.   You probably didn't read Brautigan's In Watermelon Sugar, but if you did you'd recognize iDeath here.   It's not about you - it's about what's sacred to you, and how carefully it's nurtured.
Total eclipse of the Sun (complete Attention) in 9 Aries ("A crystal gazer") at
3am PST 28 March while Pluto (our apparent destiny - which is to say, those things about which we are not yet conscious enough to realize that we have choice) stations (is very strong) at 5am PST in 27 Sadge ("A sculptor at his work"), almost exactly in front of the Galactic Center (a Source even more profound than our Sun, but much more subtle to our level of consciousness), while Vesta (what we hold sacred) and Mars (energy/exhaustion) are out of bounds (stronger than usual).   Uranus (Integrity) conjoins Mercury (Communication), which on 26 March finishes a retreat through the Cancer decanate of Pisces.   So we're thinking (Mercury) with compassion (Pisces) about how we might better nurture (Cancer) our True Self (Uranus).   This conjunction trines Vesta, so we're releasing old self-sabotaging ways of thinking and talking (waning Mercury-Vesta trine) and learning how our True Self is fed by respect in deed and word for what we regard as sacred (waxing Vesta-Uranus trine).   The Vesta-Uranus initiation was 30 April 2004 in 7 Pisces ("Illumined by a shaft of light, a large cross lies on rocks surrounded by sea mist: the spiritual blessing which strengthens individuals who, happen what may, stand uncompromisingly for their own truth" [Rhudyar 1973 p.272]) - see Relationship 2002-2005.   The Vesta-Uranus culmination spans 30 August through 18 November 2006.   Saturn trines Rahu (another message to Pay Attention!), while Jupiter makes a waning square to Neptune (opening to Surprise and Delight brings big opportunities for spiritual growth).

28 March through 4 June 2006
Relationships are likely to be sweeter here.   If you don't have one that's special, be gentle and loving with your longing for it.

Juno enters Cancer.

21 through 29 March 2006 (waxing)
This is a huge download - take time out to just sit quietly and be with it, while you remember to breathe.   It's information we don't want to miss, because it's essential preparation for the big transitions of 2012.   On the next level in, it's about getting conscious and clear about what it is that we hold sacred.   This isn't about holy wars, this is about honoring the unique role you yourself are playing in lifting the species out of slavery, equally to your respect for the parts that everyone else is playing, especially those who seem determined to destroy what you yourself hold sacred.   Simply put, Angels fly because they take themselves lightly.   But they don't discount themselves, or anyone else.   If you're energized here, go for it, but do take time out to breathe and "listen."   If you're exhausted, you may be pushing against the current, and it becomes much more important for you to slow down and listen to your own heartsong.   What is it that you really wanna do?   Declare the intention to let go of all the reasons that you've told yourself about why you can't do it.   You can indeed do it, you just haven't finished building the foundations for it yet - but you're getting close enough to get busy expecting that you will do it.   Expect surprises that delight you.

14 March through 6 September 2006 (waning)
The critical element here is to maintain curiosity about your partners in your relationships.   It's so easy to slip into judgment when they don't meet your expectations, and judgment kills relationship.   Whenever you're tempted to judge your partner, instead recognize that you're seeing the edges of something new, something that you don't know about yet.   It looks like they're pulling a weapon similar to the one that wounded you once, but the similarity is only in your own mind.   If you can manage to set aside your fear and anger, you'll be forever grateful for the new horizons that open up to you.
Penumbral eclipse in 25 Virgo on 14 March, forming a grand cross with the third opposition of the Juno-Pluto culmination.   Pluto initiated Juno on 25 December 2003 at 21 Sadge, "a child and a dog wearing borrowed eyeglasses."   The culmination spans 23 October 2005 through 21 June 2006.   The
Saturn-Chiron opposition trines the Nodes, which form a second grand cross with a Pallas-Vesta opposition.

5 March through 18 May 2006 (steady)
A great time to allow old anger to come up to the surface for release.   It aint always easy to tell whether anger's present-moment or old, but here's a clue - is someone abusing you in this very moment?   If you're stewing because somebody abused you last week or even yesterday, then it's old anger yer dealing with, and your recent abuse is probably triggering anger over more serious abuse somewhere in your personal history.   You may also need to practice setting better boundaries, so yer safer during the actual moments when someone does try to abuse you.   This probably isn't the best time for that, simply because the old anger is likely to lean you toward exaggeration, and good boundaries don't mix well with exaggeration.   The function of anger is to motivate, so don't let go of the motivation to learn how to set better boundaries.   Put it on your calendar for June.   For now, our discomfort motivates us to cough up the old anger hairballs and get them out.
Mars out of bounds in Gemini and Cancer.

13 January through 29 May 2006 (steady)
Nothing slows us down like self-sabotage.   In fact, nothing slows us down except self-sabotage.   This is an excellent time to ferret out self-sabotage, especially 5 March through 18 May.   Self-sabotage happens when our habits conflict with our values, and our own behaviors push away the objects of our Desires.   We ferret out self-sabotage by seeking clarity about our values and Desires and priorities, and taking a "searching inventory" of our habits and behaviors, to see whether they promote or hinder our priorities.   Be gentle with yourself.   No need to worry about changing our habits at this point; once we have awareness and motivation, the technology for change will find us.

There is a subtheme to the first half of 2006, and it's basically "I'll never get this right.   It's hopeless."   If you aren't in touch with it, seek it out.   Our Inner Eyore, it's a part of us that begs to receive our unconditional love.   Until it's conscious, we can't help but experience it as us, and believe its stories.   By sending love to it, we make it our ally.   Part of this is about accepting and grieving our limitations.   We need to do that before we can transcend them.
The last opposition between Saturn and Chiron, a pattern that's been with us since the Harmonic Convergence.   It occurs at 10 Leo.   The initiation was 13 April 1966 at 24 Pisces, "On a small island surrounded by the vast expanse of the sea, people are seen living in close interaction."   Not a simple initiation, it was conjunct Pallas, square Jupiter, and trine to Neptune-Ketu.   The Moon and Vesta were out of bounds.   The Uranus-Pluto conjunction of 9 October 1965 (which itself opposed Chiron and sextiled Neptune) was still exact at 18 Virgo, "A ouija board."   The Uranus-Pluto links Saturn-Chiron to 2012, and the Neptune-Ketu links it to 1/1/2000.   The Saturn-Chiron culmination runs through September 2011.   This last opposition is also not simple.   Jupiter, Juno, Vesta, and Mars are all intimately involved with it, and Jupiter is stationary through 6 July.

13 through 19 February 2006
Another dance with the "We have found the healer and it is us" theme that's been with us for the last 20 years.   The subtheme here is about loving ourself in such a way that we respect our unique skills without inflating, and embrace our inner critic without deflating.   That's a big sentence, let's break it down.   Sit up and think of something you wish you were better at.   Check the curvature of your spine and the orientation of your nose.   Your nose may be pointing downward, and your belly pulled in so your spine is curved.   Now think of something you do well.   Check the curvature of your spine and the orientation of your nose.   Your spine may be straight, and your nose pointing straight ahead.   Now think of a time when you were proud to have bested someone else in a contest.   Your nose may be pointing up and your belly moved forward.   There are subtle gradations in our skills and our attitudes toward them.   If we feel the need to be world-class before we honor ourself, it may be inflation, it may be the innate knowledge that we have an important role to play in this lifetime, or it may be that we're hearing our inner critic as judgment rather than input.   The angles of our nose and spine might help us determine the difference.   Honoring ourself means that we accept our right to receive what we need from our community - our right to do what we love doing, and live well while we're doing it - without needing to be a hero.   It means that we hear criticism for what it is - an expression of the frustration of the speaker - and that we extract helpful suggestions from it without hearing it as condemnation of our being, while opening to compassion for the speaker's frustration, whether the speaker is someone else or a part of ourself.

Saturn opposes Chiron from 7 Leo ("The constellations of Stars shine brilliantly in the night sky").   This is the penultimate Saturn-Chiron opposition in the series which began in 1987 at the Harmonic Convergence.   The final opposition, in June, is a biggie, and is the Big Event of 2006 - more on that soon.   The initiation was 13 April 1966 at 24 Pisces ("On a small island surrounded by the vast expanse of the sea, people are seen living in close interaction"), just after the Uranus-Pluto initiation (at 18 Virgo, "A Ouija board"), which itself danced with Chiron, and whose energies dominate 2012.   The full Saturn-Chiron culmination spans January 1987 through September 2011, making this the dominant energy preparing us for 2012.

17 through 24 February 2006
The curriculum here is about competition and compassion, about the personal and the transpersonal.   When do you strive to get your own needs met, and when do you defer to the Other?   And when you defer to the Other, is it because you're afraid to compete, because you trust their wisdom, because you have compassion for them, because you're obedient to their authority, or because you pity them?   How often do you believe that the Other is a mirror for a part of yourself that you are not recognizing as you?   What's your response when you do - fear, trust, compassion, anger, pity?   I know, this gets recursive, but that's part of us too.   As they say on Wall Street, "It's not what you earn, it's what you learn" - this isn't about giving and receiving, it's about exploring the boundaries between Self and Other, stretching them both ways, learning that Abundance really is about having enough to share.   The catch is that this is not an intellectual exercise, it's an emotional process.   What feelings arise when you err toward Mine or toward Thine?   Don't strive to get it right, strive instead to learn as much as you can from the experience.   These are not new issues, they've been coming up since early September.

Vesta ends its retreaton 24 February 2006.   The retreat began on 18 November in 24 Cancer, "A woman and two men cast away on a small island in the South Seas."   The shadow period spans 8-24 Cancer (the Scorpio decanate) and 2 September 2005 to 9 May 2006.

18 February 2006 through 14 April 2006
Phew!   Finally we end six grueling months of reconsidering how we support ourself, and we can get down to making the changes we've been longing to make.

Mars enters Gemini.

26 October 2005 through 14 February 2006
You made a soul-level commitment to Ecstasy in early 2005, and you spent much of the time since then releasing the reasons why lasting Ecstasy had never found you.   Well, that period of release is now finished.   If your old fears and disconnections arise, treat them as just that, moments, and not as trends, or as resumption of old bummers, or even (if you've been working on them already) as something you need to do more work on!   Just let them go.   If you've missed the train to Ecstasy, no worries, tickets are still available, you just need to declare the Intention.

Neptune ends his annual retreat on 26 October at 5pm at 15 Aquarius ("Two Lovebirds sitting on a fence and singing happily"), the same degree as the initiation of the current Juno-Neptune cycle - see Relationships 2002-2005).   The retreat began on May 20 at 18 Aquarius ("A man's secret motives are being publicly unmasked" - can we hope?).   The full shadow period spans 27 January 2005 through 14 February 2006.

25 February 2005 through 2 March 2006
The Big Picture is this.   At the end of February 2005, we got a glimpse of what it will be like to live without our Burdens, to live in Grace.   Then last Spring, we got to review all of the Burdens we still hadn't fully let go of.   It might help you to list them - what demons and heavies afflicted you last Spring?   Those are the demons and heavies that are leaving us.   Last summer we met them again, but we felt much more like we had the upper hand with them.   As long as we remembered that it's we who release them and not they who release us, this meeting was much easier than the earlier one.   Then in the Fall and Winter we encountered them again, but this time we recognized them as our friends, and met them in confidence that they have been our teachers, not our demons.   We now know that we've graduated, and with our hands on one another's backs we can go have a cuppa with these former Paper Tigers.

If you sometimes have difficulty relaxing when you have too much to do and too little time to get it done, remember this.   You succeed by always doing the most important thing in each moment.   But y'know what?   To know what the most important thing is, you must be relaxed!   So the most important thing is always to be relaxed.

Uranus's retreat spanned 7-11 Pisces, and the shadow period 27 Feb 2005 through 2 Mar 2006.   See
7-14 June in HISTORY for details.

24-28 January 2006
A major theme of the decade is polarization, 2006 is the pivotal year of the decade, and 24-28 January we come to a major decision point or encounter deep feelings about the polarities.   Can we do this without needing tragedy to trigger it?   What is it we feel compelled to defend or destroy?   Do we take sides?   Try to sit on the fence?   Transcend duality?   The rest of the decade will be much easier if we choose and commit now, rather than waiting till 2009.   Between now and 2009 we're in a bit of a "spiritual vacuum," a questioning of Faith, where Doubt will be more prominent and commitment more difficult.
Here's one possibility for the shift that may have characterized 24-28 January: the headline reads "Saddam to Sue Bush and Blair."   Two major polarities that face the World today are the tension between Order and Freedom (whether The Empire gets to remain the arbiter between them or The People get to make their own choices), and the tension between present-moment Security and future Security (whether we act to maximize current profits for the individual, or act to promote long-term survival of the species).   We'll add major articles on each of these soon.

On 28 January Pluto (being compelled, usually unconsciously, by our part in the very big picture) initiates Pallas (the Warrior Goddess and the Goddess of Wisdom; wisdom is gained through experience, often the kind of experience that we're glad when it's over) at 26 Sagittarius, "A flag bearer in a battle" (while Pallas asks questions first, once Her mind is set she doesn't yield easily).   The culmination spans 12 April to 30 June 2009.   The Galactic Center is at 27 Sadge, likely making the sense of destiny much much deeper than it otherwise would be.   Likely another week like the week of 28 August, when "doors close and others open and nothing is the same afterwards," and we lost New Orleans.   It's easy to go back to "business as usual" after the drama of the moment subsides, but the World is nonetheless changed, and reverting to the beliefs and attitudes we held before the Change removes us from connection to the Present Moment.   The more removed we are from the Present Moment, the more difficult it is for us to create what we want.   The prior Pallas-Pluto initiation was 21 March 2001 at 16 Sadge, "Sea gulls fly around a ship in expectation of food."   The next Pallas-Pluto initiation will be 3 January 2011 at 6 Capricorn, "Ten logs lie under an archway leading to darker woods."
On 27 January Jupiter waning-squares Neptune.   Their next initiation is 27 May 09 at 27 Aquarius, "An ancient pottery bowl filled with fresh violets."   The prior initiation was 10 January 1997 at 28 Cap, "A large aviary: The enjoyment of spiritual values by the soul able to familiarize itself with their implications" [Rudhyar p.246].

7 January through 19 March 2006
On the surface, alliances and decisions made around Samhain or Halloween bloom here, and bear excellent fruit in mid-March.   This is fabulous, but it's only on the surface.   Beneath this are deep transformations in our beliefs about reality and to what degree we create it.   Not what we think about that, what we believe about it, consciously and otherwise.   We may also be up for lessons about Archetypes and how they can take over our reality-maker and flood us with the image while "depriving" us of the substance.

Juno ends her Pluto-dancing retreat at 13 Gemini ("A famous pianist giving a concert performance") on 14 January at the Venus Full Moon with simultaneous culminations of Vesta-Ceres and Mars-Jupiter, the latter t-squaring Neptune with the vacancy at 16 Leo ("The storm ended, all Nature rejoices in brilliant sunshine").   The Juno retreat spans 13-23 Gemini and the shadow period 11 Sep 05 to 9 Mar 06.   While there are many, the most important initiations are
Juno-Pluto (25 Dec 03 at 21 Sadge, "A child and a dog wearing borrowed eyeglasses: The use of imagination and make-believe in anticipating higher stages of development" [Rudhyar 1973 p. 222]; culmination 23 Oct 05 through 22 Jun 06; oppositions 23 Oct-4 Nov 05 and 19 Mar 06),
Vesta-Ceres (29 Oct 96 at 25 Sadge, "A chubby boy on a hobby horse; the anticipatory enjoyment of powers one can only as yet dream of utilizing" [p.224]; culmination 19 Jan 04 through 24 Sep 06),
Mars-Jupiter (26 Sep 04 at 1 Libra, "In a collection of perfect specimens of many biological forms, a butterfly displays the beauty of its wings, its body impaled by a fine dart"; culmination 25 Jun 05 through 12 Apr 06), and
Jupiter-Neptune (a waning square on 27 Jan 06; the next initiation is 27 May 09 at 27 Aquarius, "An ancient pottery bowl filled with fresh violets").

1 January through 31 December 2006
The main theme of 2006 is sustainability, nurturance, and the fate of the Planet.   A lot of attention will go to Global Warming and other environmental changes, and to the bifurcation Ghost Dances - Rapture, Ascension, Earth Two, Jihad, the "hells" that remain for those who miss the portals, etc.   What seems most relevant is that Manifestation follows Attention.   As my barber says, "Pretty soon everybody will have their own reality TV show."   Bottom line - keep your focus on the brightest future you can imagine for yourself, and when you imagine futures for anybody else, make sure you use intentions like "for their highest good" rather than project any of your own desires onto them.   Be particularly mindful to notice and cancel negative thoughts, to transform worry into gratitude, and to lovingly embrace negative emotions rather than denying or rejecting them.   The year will be very blissful and very stressful.   The blissful dominates when we notice and transform our righteousness, and when we open to receiving the housecleaning opportunities that the stressful elements provide, even when they appear to be unkind.   Emotions run strong, but we're not as vulnerable to fearmongering as we were in late 2001.   2006 is the pivotal year of the decade, and the patterns we build during this year will have a big impact on the rest of the decade for us.   Please don't waste the opportunity - we're all in this together.

Allowing nine degrees of orb, which is not unreasonable for a "birth" chart - a calendar year is being born here - and permitting one vacancy, the 1/1/2006 chart forms a twelve-petaled Lotus blossom.   That is, four Grand Trines and three Grand Crosses aligned approximately one sign apart.   The vacancy is 11-12 Virgo, 11 for the Grand Trines ("In her baby a Mother sees her deep longing for a Son answered: Spirit's answer to the vital needs of whatever became individualized out of its infinite ocean of potentialities" [Rudhyar 1973 p.137]) and 12 for the Grand Crosses ("After the wedding the Groom snatches the Veil away from his Bride: The penetrating and unveiling power of the trained mind" [p.138]).   The Grand Trines are Rahu-Saturn-Pallas in 9-15 Fire, Mars-Vacancy-(Sun-Ceres) in 9-12 Earth, Juno-Ketu-Neptune in 9-16 Air, and Vesta-Jupiter-Uranus in 8-17 Water.   The Grand Crosses are Rahu-Vesta-Ketu-(Sun-Ceres) in 9-17 Cardinal, Mars-Saturn-Jupiter-Neptune in 10-16 Fixed, and Juno-Vacancy-Pallas-Uranus in 8-15 Mutable.   Ceres is out of bounds and conjunct the Sun, making it the most important planet of the year.   The Moon is not included in the Lotus, but it is out of bounds, although in Capricorn (27: "Pilgrims climbing the steep steps leading to a mountain shrine: The ascent of the individualized consciousness to the highest realizations reached by the spiritual leaders of its culture" [p.246]).   Mercury is also out of bounds and excluded from the Lotus, but conjunct Pluto.   Venus is conjunct Chiron (see 24 December through 3 February), also excluded from the Lotus, but the most prominent single event at the dawn of the New Year.   In other words, everyone is involved.   The Mercury-Pluto initiation was December 31 (4am PST) at 25 Sadge ("A chubby boy on a hobby horse: The anticipatory enjoyment of powers one can only as yet dream of utilizing" [p.224]).   The Sun-Ceres initiation was 28 December (5am PST) at 7 Capricorn ("A veiled prophet speaks, seized by the power of a god").   Recall that Ceres rising (sustainability), an emotional Grand Cross (Moon-Saturn-Uranus-Pallas), Neptune-Ketu (loss of the Veil), and Chiron-Pluto (mandatory healing) were the primary elements of the chart for the decade (1/1/2000).   The charts for the remaining years of the decade are not as benificent as the 2006 chart.   The most important aspect of the year is the final opposition of Saturn to Chiron ("We have found the healer and it is us"), which aspect has been recurring since the Harmonic Convergence in 1987, helping to define an entire generation of healers.

24 December 2005 through 3 February 2006
We've just been through a huge healing, maybe characterized by your making a vow to stay conscious in situations where it's always been most difficult for you to stay present, or maybe by your becoming aware of some situations where you've played the role of victim rather than creator, or maybe just by your getting clear about how you need to focus your attention and where you need to take responsibility.   Now we deepen this healing, building repetitions so our new consciousness or awareness or clarity or responsibility begins to become a habit, so the Change becomes permanent.   That's a big word, permanent, but that's the word we mean.   Don't be flippant with your "New Years Resolutions" this year - this year they're quite real.   Make sure you only have a few, and make sure you're dead serious about them.   Your old, unconscious, unfocused self has indeed died.   You can always resurrect it by betraying yourself and reverting to your old ways.   Don't bother, it will just make your future more painful, as you have to make these Changes again remedially.   If you haven't in a while - or haven't at all - the next two weeks would be a great time to reread or read Starhawk's Truth or Dare, or at least open it at random every day or two and read a few pages.   If you aren't inspired, at least do pages 142-144, and 105-107.

Venus takes a retreat from 2am PST on 24 December 2005 through 3 February 2006 at 2am PST, spanning 17 Capricorn ("A repressed woman finds a psychological release in nudism") through 2 Aquarius ("An unexpected thunderstorm"), dancing with Chiron and Ceres in the process.   The second half of Capricorn is about fathering, or nurturing with detachment but not dissociation.   The full shadow period runs from 11 November 2005 through 7 March 2006.   Venus appears as the Morning Star around January 20.   The initiation by Chiron occurs at 8pm PST on 18 December in 1 Aquarius, "An old adobe mission in California."   The Venus-Chiron culmination spans 18 August through 19 September 2006.   The waxing square occurs 6 June 2006, with Jupiter filling a grand cross in 8-11 of the fixed signs with the last Saturn-Chiron opposition.   Notice the complementarity between this Venus-Jupiter-Saturn-Chiron grand cross and the Mars-Jupiter-Saturn-Neptune grand cross below.   The Ceres initiation occurred on 15 October 2005 at 8 Sadge ("Within the depths of the Earth new elements are being formed: the alchemical fire which both purifies and transforms the very substance of man's inner life").

16-24 December 2005
A huge healing is afoot.   This phase of it is only just beginning, peaking next summer, but by starting now we can amp up the power many times over.   We've been breaking out of old eggshells that we used to believe were "laws of nature."   When you experience doubt or fear, recognize that this is what you're releasing, not what you're moving into, and not what you can't get out of.   Affirm that you never have to get lost in doubt or fear again, because you now understand that you need only experience that which some part of you wants to experience, and since you're moving toward integrity, all parts of you will be wanting the same things.   "Hit me," said the Masochist; "No!" said the Sadist.   Be particularly loving and gentle with yourself when you feel defeated.   Loving your despair is the doorway to Grace.

A huge healing is afoot.   This phase of it is only just beginning, peaking next summer, but by starting now we can amp up the power many times over.
11 November 2005 through 24 December 2005
We've been breaking out of old eggshells that we used to believe were "laws of nature," and we may be feeling a bit of backlash or healing crisis here.   Stay true to Where-Yer-Going (even if you're not sure where that is, since it's a lot bigger than Where-Ya-Been), and resist the temptation to revert to the apparent safety of Where-Ya-Been.   Hint: Where-Yer-Going feels a lot more satisfying than Where-Ya-Been.

9 December 2005 through 3 February 2006
A final pass of this opportunity to heal our abundance-scarcity issues.   Be watchful for self-judgements (or other-judgements that mirror unconscious self-judgements), and when you encounter them make the effort to be gentle and loving first with your internal judge, and second with your internal defendant.

At 8pm PST on Friday 9 December Mars ends its retreat in 9 Taurus, "A fully decorated Christmas Tree."   The retreat began on 1 October at 24 Taurus ("An Indian warrior riding fiercely, human scalps hanging from his belt").   The full shadow period is 12 August 2005 through 3 February 2006 spanning 9-24 Taurus, basically the Virgo decanate of Taurus.   During this retreat Mars dances with Neptune, Saturn, and Jupiter, and the four make a grand cross in 9-16 of the fixed signs, one corner of which is the midpoint of the impending-but-not-imminent Chiron-Neptune conjunction (17 February 2010 in 27 Aqua with a very significant preview in late May of 2009).   Mars sextiles Uranus.   See also below.   The midpoints of the fixed signs are often considered the power points of the zodiac, and symbolic of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

2-9 December 2005
A run at healing our abundance-scarcity issues.   Two keys - First, don't take anything personally this week.   Honor your anger without blaming anyone else for it, and without trying to figure out why you're angry.   There's a whole lotta Power afoot here, much of it coming through your third chakra, and if you're not used to living in it, your Power may feel like anger to you.   Second, hang loose; see 4 December to 11 May below.

4 December 2005 through 11 May 2006
Rather than striving to recreate your past successes or create your fantasies, let them go.   Instead, focus on the feeling state you wish to achieve, not the details of the drama or the identifiable physical characteristics of the set.   The World is changing too rapidly for prediction or control to work, because they're both so heavily dependent on perspectives that will be obsolete before the moment arrives.   You can definitely have what you want, but you need to hold it loosely.

The second Mars-Jupiter opposition is 4 December at 5pm PST in 9 Taurus; the first one was 25 June 2005 in 10 Aries.   The third opposition is 15 January 2006, and the culmination runs through 11 April 2006.   The initiation was 26 September 2004 at 1 Libra, "In a collection of perfect specimens of many biological forms, a butterfly displays the beauty of its wings, its body impaled by a fine dart."

12-16 December 2005
We could see an economic jolt here, in the big picture part of our transition from the Industrial Age to the Information Age, and at medium range part of our integration of those artifacts of the Industrial Age that we wish to keep, with the nascent beginnings of the Information Age.   One of the characteristics of the Industrial Age was the change from Ownership Slavery to Wage Slavery.   Hopefully we'll begin to see some possibilities for moving beyond Wage Slavery.   How to navigate the transition?   Keep your plans short range, expect the World to be changing rapidly, and stay nimble enough to change with it.   The most important shift between the Industrial Age and the Information Age is that the economics of scarcity dominated the former, while the economics of abundance dominate the latter.   If you haven't started your jump from objectivity (physical reality constrains what's possible) to subjectivity (only my beliefs limit me), get yer butte in gear NOW.

Jupiter-Saturn waxing square in 11 Scorpio on 16 December at 10 pm PST.   This cycle initiated on 28 May 2000 in 23 Taurus ("A jewelry shop filled with valuable gems") and triggered the "Dot-Com Crash."   The culmination runs from 23 May 2010 through 30 June 2012.

5 December 2005 through 20 April 2010
Fundamentalism means "taking your metaphors literally."   It's as rampant in Science as it is in Religion, which is why the scienterrific or "rational" worldview feels itself under attack for the first time in several centuries.   This is only a sign of the change of Ages, a "healing crisis" for everyone, where we all get so throttled by our fundamentalisms that we finally have to abandon them.   Ask not why that other guy is so radical or reactionary, ask yourself what it is about your own beliefs that's inflexible.   Over the next four years, both as individuals and as cultures, we come to realize that to survive we must replace our ideals with intuitions, and that we must replace our sense of morality with our sense of integrity.

Chiron enters Aquarius at 5pm PST on 5 December 2005.

1 November 2005 through 14 January 2006
Sometimes we need to temporarily abandon the skills that provide our security, in order to learn new ones.   A key is to embrace our fear.

Juno begins a retreat at 22:53 Gemini ("Three fledglings in a nest high in a tree") on 1 November at 1:45pm PST, though the Moon may stretch the peak to 2:02pm.   The shadow period spans 13-23 Gemini and 11 September 2005 through 9 March 2006.   The retreat ends at 12:14 Gemini ("A famous pianist giving a concert performance") on 14 January 2006.   See also 21 October 2005 through 6 June 2006 above.

27 November 2005 through 9 February 2006
Forget "No Pain No Gain."   Remember how in Monopoly you could skip past Park Place and Boardwalk, pay none of those exorbitant rents, and collect $200 besides?   Declare the intention to read the World and act from your intuition rather than from your emotions, and you can move straight to wisdom, without having to gather more painful experience to get there.

Pallas enters Sagittarius at 7am PST on 27 November.

22 November 2005 through 16 April 2006
How has your identity been challenged since mid-August?   Are you the same person you were in July?   Were the changes you've made - or lived through - since mid-August your own choice, or were they adaptations to the intolerable?   We'll be reviewing those changes between now and mid-April, so you'll have opportunities to fine-tune them, or to try another approach if your first attempts were less satisfactory than you would have liked.   Forget those Greek-tragedy notions you learned in school, and when fear or doubt arises, let it go.   Fear and Doubt are not intuitions, they're limitations that you no longer need.   They just mean you're moving a little too fast.   Slow down for a few minutes, take several deep breaths, then focus your attention on the outcome you want.   Let go of your belief that you have to engineer it or control it or even steer it.   We're moving from an age where a great deal of action and tension was required to get through the fog, to an age where intention and attention do most of the work.   We have to let go of how we'll get there, and let ourselves be surprised.

Saturn begins a retreat in 12 Leo ("An evening party of adults on a lawn illumined by fancy lanterns") at 1am PST on 22 November.   The shadow period spans 5-12 Leo and 19 August 2005 through 10 July 2006.   The retreat ends on 16 April 2006.   5 Leo is "Rock formations tower over a deep canyon."   In this retreat Saturn dances with Chiron, Mars, Jupiter, Ceres, and Neptune - see 1 October through 10 December 2005 and 25 October 2005 through 24 November 2006 below.

18 November 2005 to 24 February 2006

Vesta begins a retreat at 4pm PST on 18 November in 24 Cancer, "A woman and two men cast away on a small island in the South Seas."   The shadow period spans 8-24 Cancer (the Scorpio decanate) and 2 September 2005 to 9 May 2006.   The retreat ends 24 February 2006.

15 November 2005 through 2 March 2006
We've released most of our beliefs that we have to suffer - right?   Oh, you got a few left?   No worries, this is the perfect time to release those too!   See 25 February through October 2005 below.

Uranus ends its retreat at 4pm PST on 15 November in 7 Pisces.   The shadow period ends 2 March 2006.   See below for more details.

16-18 November 2005
Anything seem like it's been "gnawing" at you since September?   Like you're forgetting something?   This'd be a good time to pray for clarity.

16-22 November 2005
The image here is a country club on the side of a volcano.   It's not that there needs to be any kind of conflict between "high culture" and geological reality, or even between Rapture and Ascension.   In fact, this is what we're healing, our belief that we must wall off the Chaos of the Universe or the Unconscious in order to maintain our tiny island of gentility, safety, serenity, pride, or sobriety.   The opportunity lies in surrendering control, accepting change, and allowing our World to re-form on the other side of the chasm of Change, trusting Grace to bring us what we're willing to receive.   Except for the fear inherent in our belief in suffering, the prognosis is actually quite good - see 24 November 2005 through 16 September 2008.

24 November 2005 through 16 September 2008
Truly a time for Gratitude - in fact, your Gratitude may be just enough to "save" the Planet.

Pluto initiates Ceres at 24 Sadge, "A Bluebird perched on the gate of a cottage."   The culmination of the cycle runs from 1 April to 16 September 2008.

8-15 November 2005
From the front row: No worries, it's just Changes.   Hang in there.
From the balcony: It's about releasing our belief that we have to suffer.   See 25 February through October 2005 below.

Uranus ends its retreat at 4pm PST on 15 November in 7 Pisces.   The shadow period ends 2 March 2006.   See below for more details.

13 November through 3 December 2005
When the Stone rolls away this Christmas, a new, significantly different You will be birthed, and this period is the time to prepare the manger.   Prepare it by cleaning all negativity from your thoughts.   You cannot deny "negative" emotions, because when you do they just hide and jump out at you later.   But you also cannot believe negative thoughts, because when you do they get stronger.   When negative thoughts arise (and they will, no worries), bless them and let them go.   Imagine yourself being bathed in a "stream of Well-Being" [Hicks 2004] instead.   This is not a time to surrender to Scarcity - if Abundance issues arise, just take your power.   The meek inherit the Earth neither by remaining meek, nor by turning aggressive, but by dispassionately standing firm for our birthright.

At 10pm PST on 13 November, Mercury begins a retreat at 11 Sagittarius, "In the left section of an archaic temple, a lamp burns in a container shaped like a human body: the value of the 'return to the body' in order to balance the stress on intellectuality and objective consciousness" [Rudhyar p.216].   The full shadow period spans 25 Scorpio to 11 Sadge, and 28 October through the Winter Solstice at 21 December.   During the shadow period Mercury initiates Pallas on 16 October (6am PDT) at 12 Scorpio ("An official embassy ball; group-consciousness as it flowers at the highest level in cultural interchanges between representatives of the ruling class" [Rudhyar p.198]), and waning-squares Uranus thrice, starting on 5 November at 7 Sagittarius.   The subsequent Mercury-Pallas conjunctions are 26 November and 21 December, and the Mercury-Pallas cycle reaches waxing square on 28 April 2006 and culminates from 12 June through 19 August 2006.

1 October through 10 December 2005
What abundance and scarcity issues came up for you during the last half of August and all of September?   This is what we're healing.   It's not about effort, it's about revising our beliefs to allow Grace into our lives.   We're asked to constantly rebalance our use of action, prayer, openness, and focus.

At 3pm PDT on Saturday 1 October Mars goes on retreat in 24 Taurus ("An Indian warrior riding fiercely, human scalps hanging from his belt") till 10 December.   The full shadow period is 12 August 2005 through 3 February 2006 and spans 9-24 Taurus, basically the Virgo decanate of Taurus.   Taurus 9 is "A fully decorated Christmas Tree."
During this retreat Mars dances with Neptune, Saturn, and Jupiter, and the four make a loose grand cross in 9-16 of the fixed signs.   Upcoming events include:
Mars-Neptune waxing square in 15 Taurus on 7 November at 11 am PST,
Mars-Saturn waning square in 12 Taurus on 18 November at 1pm PST while
Saturn comes off retreat on 22 November in 12 Taurus at 1am PST,
Mars-Jupiter opposition in 9 Taurus on 4 December at 5pm PST, and
Jupiter-Saturn waxing square in 11 Scorpio on 16 December at 10 pm PST.
The midpoints of the fixed signs are often considered the power points of the zodiac, and symbolic of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

25 October through 24 November 2006
Between now and June 2006 we're releasing all impediments to Humanity living in peace with itself, with its fellow biological and spiritual travelers, and with its Planet.   I recommend addressing this on the personal level, proactively.   Sound ambitious?   Well, there are advantages to being near the head of the herd.

Jupiter enters Scorpio on 25 October at 8pm PDT till 24 November 2006.   Jupiter's Scorpio retreat spans 5 March through 6 July 2006 and 9-19 Scorpio (the Pisces decanate).   The full shadow period runs from 7 December 2005 through 2 October 2006.   The retreat is highlighted by a monster Mars-Vesta-Juno-Jupiter-Saturn-Chiron tsquare in the last half of June 2006 with the vacancy at 9-10 Taurus ("A fully decorated Christmas Tree" and "A Red Cross nurse").   This is the last Saturn-Chiron opposition ("we have found the healer and it is us") in the culmination that has been ongoing since 1986.   The Saturn-Chiron cycle began in April 1966 at 24 Pisces - "On a small island surrounded by the vast expanse of the sea, people are seen living in close interaction."

16 October through 14 November 2005
Old habits of victimization around entitlement and scarcity rise into consciousness where they can be released.

Mercury enters a shadow period on 28 October, its first crossing of the 25-Scorpio-to-11-Sadge span over which it will subsequently retreat, from 14 November through 4 December.   The third leg of the shadow period finishes 21 December.   During this shadow period, Mercury initiates Pallas on 16 October (6am PDT) at 12 Scorpio ("An official embassy ball; group-consciousness as it flowers at the highest level in cultural interchanges between representatives of the ruling class" [Rudhyar p.198]), and waning-squares Uranus thrice, starting on 5 November at 7 Sagittarius.   The subsequent Mercury-Pallas conjunctions are 26 November and 21 December, and the Mercury-Pallas cycle reaches waxing square on 28 April 2006 and culminates from 12 June through 19 August 2006.

4 October 2005 through 6 December 2005
What have you been struggling to manifest for so long that you'd have long since given it up if you could give it up?   This is not addiction, it's essence.   You can't give up that Desire because it's an integral part of you.   This particular Desire has been lit up since 2002, and the sense that it's now or never has been around since February.   So, how to manifest it?   By being loving with our despair that we'll never create it.   The bigger issue is about really learning, through all of our bodies, with no doubt or hesitation remaining, that we do indeed "create our own reality."   That work is millennial, it's about the change of Ages, and our role in it.   The struggle to manifest our personal destiny is just ego.   The millennial transpersonal project is far more important.

21 October 2005 through 6 June 2006
More lessons in manifestation, this one particularly tailored to the false identities that we find so extraordinarily difficult to let go of.   That's usually because they aren't really false, they're only somewhat off the mark.   Who have you been pretending to be?   If you relaxed completely, and hid nothing from no one, who would you be?   Maybe a little embarrassment is all that stands between you and your Divine Template.   The real question is what motivates you to pretend to be someone other than your fully relaxed, Goddess-anointed self?   That's part of you too, and it's a deep and precious part.   We actually do get to be what we pretend to be, it just doesn't look like we thought it would.

The Juno-Pluto cycle begins its culmination at 23 Gemini on 23 October at 11pm PDT, and Juno opposes Pluto again on 4 November at 7am PST.   The cycle began on Christmas Day 2003 at 21 Sagittarius ("The use of imagination and make-believe in anticipating higher stages of development" [Rudhyar p.222] or "fake it tillya make it").   The culmination lasts till 6 June 2006 at 8 Leo.   The Moon crosses Juno and opposes Pluto on 21 October at 1pm PDT.
On 28 October, Venus joins in.   Pluto initiates Venus at 8pm PDT in 23 Sagittarius ("A group of immigrants as they fulfill the requirements of entrance into the new country.   Consciously accepting the ways of a new stage of experience, in readiness for the opportunities it will present" [Rudhyar p. 223]).
The culmination of the Venus-Juno cycle begins at 11pm PDT in 23 Gemini.   This cycle began 7 March 2005 at 12 Pisces ("In the sanctuary of an occult brotherhood, newly initiated members are being examined and their character tested"), and its culmination lasts until 29 December.
The Moon squares the whole melange from 11 pm PDT 28 October till 2am PDT 29 October.
Meanwhile, Juno is very strong, beginning a retreat at 2pm PST on 1 November - see 27 October through 1 November below.

27 October through 1 November 2005
Your worst relationship nightmares?   Your worst nightmare about your own lack of self-worth?   I know, I know, they seem really real - that's the nature of the emotional body (and the thoughts that feed its dramas).   But they're only ghosts come to haunt you for Halloween.   Greet them with civility, thank them for their service, then bid them a pleasant farewell.   You don't need them any more.
The opportunity is to examine who it is that's feeling and thinking these things, and respectfully help that person step aside, so your higher self can step in, stanch the negativity, and move forward manifesting what you want, rather than what you don't want.   The process peaks on 1 November at 2pm PST.

26 October 2005 through 14 February 2006
You made a soul-level commitment to Ecstasy in early 2005, and you've spent much of the time since then releasing the reasons why lasting Ecstasy had never found you.   Well, that period of release is now finished.   Till mid-February there will be moments when your old fears and disconnections arise.   Treat them as just that, moments, and not trends, or resumption of old bummers, or even (if you've been working on them already) something you need to do more work on.   Just let it go.   If you've missed the train to Ecstasy, no worries, tickets are still available.

19 through 26 October 2005
The most important thing to remember here is that confusion is good.   It was Fritz Perls's contention that confusion is what happens when limiting rigidities in your concepts about reality start to loosen up.   Celebrate confusion.   If you get blissed out here, just enjoy it.   Well, you might also intend that Bliss becomes you permanently.
The transpersonal dimension is lit up again, since the basic lesson this year is that our role in the transformation of the Planet is a lot more important than whether we ever fulfill our Desires.   Don't get that confused with some sermon about avarice - your most important work for the Planet is your striving to satisfy your Desires.   Desires by definition are never fulfilled, but striving to satisfy them is the road to enlightenment.   And everyone else's most important work is their striving to fulfill their desires, even the most avaricious of us.   The real striving, for the greedheads as well as the destitute, is to achieve abundance - which means having enough to share, because abundance is about Love.   Notice that many of the destitute are already there.   A few of the wealthy are too.

Neptune ends his annual retreat on 26 October at 5pm at 15 Aquarius ("Two Lovebirds sitting on a fence and singing happily" - see Relationships 2002-2005).   The retreat began on May 20 at 18 Aquarius ("A man's secret motives are being publicly unmasked" - can we hope?).   The full shadow period spans 27 January 2005 through 14 February 2006.

4 October 2005 through 6 December 2005
What have you been struggling to manifest for so long that you'd have long since given it up if you could give it up?   This is not about addiction, it's about essence.   You can't give up that Desire because it's an integral part of your current lifetime, it's what you came here to learn how to create.   You've felt this particular Desire more strongly since 2002, and that sense that it's now or never has been around since February of this year.   So, how do you manifest it?   By being loving with your despair that you'll never create it.   Don't leave this sentence till you take it in all the way.   By being loving with your despair that you'll never create it.
There's a bigger issue, though, bigger than "just" what you came here to do in this lifetime.   It's about really learning, through all of your bodies, with no doubt or hesitation remaining, that we do indeed "create our own reality."   That work is millennial, it's about the change of Ages, and your role in it.   The struggle to manifest our personal destiny is just ego.   The millennial transpersonal project is far more important.

Chiron moves through the last few degrees of Capricorn for the third and final time during its current 50-year cycle.   See 27 September through 4 October in HISTORY.

27 September through 4 October 2005
Any issues you feel "stuck" on?   This is a prime time to surrender them, recognizing that there's nothing "you" can do to heal them, except to give them over to your Higher Power.

At 11am PDT on Tuesday 4 October Chiron finishes it's annual retreat at 28 Capricorn.   The retreat began on 9 May 2005 at 4 Aquarius.   The full shadow period spans 26 January 2005 through 17 January 2006.   Chiron enters Aquarius "for good" on 6 December 2005.

20 September 2005 through 1 October 2005, and continuing through January
What abundance and scarcity issues have come up for you during the last six weeks?   This is what we're healing.   You may be tempted to address abundance and scarcity through work, but that's not what will grow corn here.   It's also easy to think Spirit good Matter bad, but that won't grow no corn neither.   What does work here?   Paraphrasing Gibran, "Your stuff is not your stuff / It is the stuff of Life's longing for itself."   The lesson is to hold your stuff in an open palm, not in a closed fist, so your stuff can breathe.   Same with other people's stuff - when you find yourself feeling jealous, seek admiration instead.   It's not even that those people are ripping off the planet, it's that those people know how to manifest.   If they grasp their stuff, fearing loss, it's they that will suffer when their stuff inhales, not you - unless you get emotionally involved with their stuff.   If they've manifested out of Love, then they are your teachers.   You may not be able to tell the difference, so you may as well assume that one way or the other, they're in your field to teach you.   Bottom line?   Stuff is sacred, don't knock it.   And hold it loosely.

At 3pm PDT on Saturday 1 October Mars goes on retreat at 24 Taurus till 10 December.   The full shadow period is 12 August 2005 through 3 February 2006 and spans 9-24 Taurus, basically the Virgo decanate of Taurus.

19 September 2005 through 27 November 2005
Ya know how we been releasing beliefs that suffering is inevitable?   Well, now we take this deep deep into the psyche, down where thought and language do not reach.   We experience this deep stuff directly as Emotion.   Work hard to keep Thought out of here, it'll just delay release and add unnecessary pain.   Love is all you need.   If you externalize this and it comes in the form of attack from outside, defend yourself.

At 11pm PDT on Sunday 18 September Pallas enters Scorpio.

3 September 2005 through 17 June 2007
For the last two years, and most especially since last Autumn, we've seen "utter transformation of our consciousness" through radical changes in our living habits, and through the relationships we chose [Rudhyar p.267].   That period is now over, and we can expect our living situations and relationships to have less transformational power over us.   That is, with many of our tools and alliances now in place, we settle down and get to work preparing our Planet for Shaktipat.   The lesson here is that efforting will no longer work, what will work is relaxing our restrictions on ourself and our expectations of others and the World.   We transform ourself by surrendering our need to be or become anything or anyone except our natural self.   That means we allow Shame to fall away, and we find it easier to respond to our should voices with a polite but dismissive "Thanks for contributing."   Of course we can continue to inquire as to exactly what it was they were trying to contribute, as all of our voices have good intentions, no matter how misguided.   But the bottom line is that, for now, Obedience is dead.

At 1pm PDT on Saturday 3 September, Pallas phitiled Uranus.   Thus ends the culmination of the Pallas-Uranus cycle.   The cycle began 3 June 2002 at 29 Aquarius opposing Juno, and the culmination began on 4 October 2004.   The initiations in November, December, January, and February (see Relationship 2002-2005) would have made this culmination much more pronounced.   Here's how the Dalai Lama put it,
"You are recognizing the nature of suffering, but you also sense the possibility of emerging from this ubiquitous vulnerability to suffering - that is why it is called the spirit of emergence.   The spirit of emergence could also be called an emotion; there is an enormous amount of emotional content to it.   It entails a radical disillusionment with the whole of samsara.   And so, whether you call it disgust or disillusionment, it is a profound sadness with respect to the mundane.   This is all, theoretically, in anticipation of ascertaining the possibility of nirvana - complete and irreversible freedom from mental afflictions."
[Epstein 2005 p.110].   Epstein continues, "When renunciation arises out of self-awareness, its function is not to dampen desire but to liberate it" [p.114].   The next cycle begins 18 June 2007 at 19 Pisces.
Rose Quartz fosters healthy self-love.

28 August through 2 September 2005, and continuing through 9 August 2006
A week of Big Change, both personally and globally, one of those times where doors close and others open and nothing is the same afterwards.   Changes that have been brewing for a long time now come out into the open, and we may not even remember what it was like before the Shift.   Don't be fooled by the appearance of disarray and confusion - the future belongs to those who can embrace the opportunities, which are immense.   Forget planning and understanding, this is too big and too fast for that, only intuition and instinct have enough bandwidth to work here.   Challenge yourself to receive what you've never dared to dream of because you always thought it was too fabulous to be real.   Our ultimate goal is integration of the spiritual with the material, in relationship and in community, and this gateway yawns very wide and very deep.   Don't hold back, throw yourself in, it's not a time for caution, and you know it.   Deal with the inevitable Fear by being loving and gentle with it.   Fear is inevitable simply because the opening to the New is so big here.

Venus initiates Jupiter at 19 Libra, "Protest against disharmonic social privilege" [Rudhyar p.184], at 5pm PDT on Thursday 1 September while Pluto ends a retreat at 22 Sadge, "Making use of one's [unique] background to survive and prosper in an alien environment" [Rudhyar p.223], at 4am PDT on Friday 2 September.   The period where these changes were birthed was the first leg of Pluto's shadow period, 5 December 2004 through 27 March 2005.   If you've forgotten what 5 December was about, review Relationship 2002-2005.   Here's the meat of it:
"5 December 2004 - Venus conjunct Mars at 17 Scorpio, "A Woman the Father of Her Own Child: A deep and complete concentration reaching to the innermost center of the personality where the Living God acts as a fecundating power.   This reveals the potency of the inward way, the surrender of the ego to a transcendent Force which can create through the person vivid manifestations of the Will of God...   The realization of normally hidden potentialities...   Faith in the Divine is shown here being concretely justified.   The human person becomes 'a mother of the Living God.'   This is the transpersonal way of existence.   It is the way that leads to creative mutations" [Rudhyar p.202].
But don't ignore the 7 January and 25 February 2005 events, they're equally important.
Eudialyte takes us deep into the Mystery, where we can be transformed.

11 August 2005 through October 2009
Relationships deepen, or fade out.   Keep checking on the relationships you want to keep, because some may appear to do both.   Don't assume a relationship has faded just because the quantity of contact has diminished.   Look to the quality.   Release the relationships that don't serve you.   The last thing you want here is to dump your time and energy into "fallback" relationships - the ones you plan to "fall back" to if your favorite relationships threaten to fade.   But don't throw out the good ones - ask yourself How do I usually feel when I'm with this person? rather than How well do they meet my expectations?   In this time province, expectations poison relationships.   You know when someone doesn't meet your expectations by the anger or grief it triggers in you.   Read these emotional reactions in your body as signs that you need to get more conscious of your expectations so you can release them.
On the personal side, beliefs play the same toxic role - they sabotage our reality.   Negative beliefs create realities we don't claim to want, and even positive beliefs can limit us, and backfire if they become expectations.   Yet it's well nigh impossible to live without beliefs.   It's a worthy goal to aspire to, and we can approximate it by keeping our beliefs tentative - the equivalent of staying present with our inner child's curiosity and wonder.   That requires strong communication between your Consciousness and the Unconscious, and a loose grip on your personal ego.   You may be able to maintain this through prayer and surrender, or other techniques, even if you don't have native talent for it.   The feedback loop between our beliefs and our reality becomes more immediate here.   It may not be enough to work to keep your thoughts positive.   If you aren't manifesting what you think you want with increasing ease, you may need to work on levels deeper than your thoughts.

Jupiter initiates Pallas at 16 Libra, "After a storm a boat landing stands in need of reconstruction: the need to keep in operation steady links between the vast Unconscious and the ego-consciousness" [Rudhyar p.182], at 1pm PDT.   Four hours later, the culmination of the Juno-Jupiter cycle ends; this cycle, which initiated in August 2001 at 4 Cancer, started its culmination on 4 May 2005.   The two cycles are further linked because the previous Pallas-Jupiter initiation, in 1998 at 21 Pisces, conjoined Juno.

12 August 2005 through 28 March 2006
Our commitments change here, they become more flexible.   Don't forget to take the time to renegotiate them, especially if you're uncomfortable doing it.   If your commitments change and you don't renegotiate them, they aint commitments, they're betrayals.   In September and October, be particularly alert for any tendency to betray yourself because it seems easier to give yourself away than to work toward win-win, especially if you're dealing with someone who intimidates you.

Juno enters Gemini, 9am PDT on Friday 12 August.   While it's there it takes a retreat across 13-23 Gemini, mostly the Libra decanate, which is about discerning the difference between compromise and win-win.   The retreat spans 1 November to 13 January, and the shadow period spans 11 September to 8 March.

13 August 2005 through 27 May 2006
We're reminded of our dedication to compassion, and it becomes more important to nurture and be nurtured, than to stick to discipline.   Between 3 September and 18 November we have the opportunity to release a great deal of shame around how we like to give and receive love.   If we're open to it we can learn to respect our desires as sacred.   When your guilt voices speak out, thank them for sharing, and respectfully tell them you no longer trust that they're looking out for your highest good.   If you can't say that honestly, then PIAVA it.   We need to be operating from Joy instead.

Vesta enters Cancer, 4am PDT on Saturday 13 August.   Vesta retreats across 8-24 Cancer between 18 November and 23 February, with a shadow period of 3 September to 8 May.   This is mostly the Scorpio decanate of Cancer.

28 July 2005 through 18 February 2006
Stamina and self-trust are lit up here, particularly around your objectives in the hardcopy World of matter.   Many of us will be expanding our Confidence, which of course means exploring the places where we abandon ourself.   The essence of self-confidence is telling ourself the Truth - but the Truth is never negative.   When you judge yourself, PIAVA (Pray or Intend or Affirm or Visualize or Ask) to be shown a new perspective that allows you to appreciate yourself and your skills.   Don't waste your time and energy on negative perspectives - they only create more negativity and pain.   Yes, you need to be loving with your own grief and fear and anger and shame, you don't want to power over them, you want to power with them.   Your self-abandonment is most likely to arise between mid-August and late September.   The sooner you recognize it as self-abandonment (watch for any negative self-talk), the more Confidence you'll be gaining.   Confidence is Faith - we manifest through co-creation, and trust in ourself and our motives and methods, is as important as trust in God and Her motives and methods.

Mars enters Taurus, 10pm PDT on 27 July.   It retreats through 9-24 Taurus - basically the Leo decanate - between 2 October and 10 December.   The full shadow period spans 12 August 2005 through 3 February 2006.

25-31 July 2005
This week gives us the opportunity to heal lifelong frustrations.   The first thing we need to do to make such a shift, is to recognize that we cannot do it - if we could, we woulda, long ago.   So we have to delegate it to someone who can.   Who might that be?   Some form of "Higher Power" for sure.   It has to be a form that you accept.   Lots of "I'd rather die than do that again" kinda feelings here - embrace them, they're exactly what you want, since they is ego death, and you won't transform this without an ego death.   The feeling that I can't do this is precisely what you need.   But recognize that it's the I part of that sentence that's transformed.   You do it by giving up your old I so the new I can take its place.   What new I?   No worries - you can trust that he or she's waiting in the wings, ready to jump in as soon as your old I surrenders its throne.   Let it die.   A wake is appropriate.   See the next several readings as well, to understand the context.

Citrine will draw off some of the emotional charge while you create new patterns to replace the old dysfunctional ones.
Moon-Mars squares both Saturn and Chiron from 8am PDT through 2pm PDT on Wednesday 27 July.   The Mars-Chiron square is exact at 7am PDT on Thursday 28 July, and the Mars-Saturn square at 7am PDT on Sunday 31 July.

22 July through 15 August 2005
Ego death continues into mid-August, but it's much more gentle after 31 July.   Mostly during the first two weeks of August, we'll be making all kindsa adjustments to accommodate the BIG shifts we made during July.
Mercury retreats through the Sadge decanate of Leo, which is also about ego death, ie, letting go of who we thought we were.   Retrograde station is 8pm PDT 22 July at 21 Leo, "Intoxicated Chickens dizzily flap their wings trying to fly" - talk about giving up old dysfunctional egos!   The direct station is 9pm PDT on 15 August at 9 Leo, "Glass blowers shape beautiful forms with their controlled breathing.   The overall shadow period spans 5 July through 30 August.

23 June through 31 July 2005
Two big energies maxing out here.   One is the potential for healing despair and realizing that you no longer need to suffer.   The other is taking responsibility for your own role as Healer of the Planet - as in Gandhi's admonition to be the change you wish to see in the World.   Humans are energy transformers.   We aren't the only factors operating to heal the planet, but we're a critical link.   If we had to express it all in simple terms, our job description could read like this - transform grief into joy, shame into confidence, anger into bliss, and fear into love.   It doesn't matter whose grief or shame or anger or fear you transform, because our separate identities are just illusions anyway.   It also doesn't matter how you go about transforming - it might be the way out is through, and it might look more like denial, just to take two examples.   The important thing is to do it your way.   It's all one big morass, we're each just nibbling on our own corner of it.   You can make it personal, but that just makes it more challenging.   No blame, it's just that some of us are working on that corner of the morass - it needs to be transformed too.   There's leverage for making a whole lotta progress this week, but don't worry if you need to leave something unfinished, we have till October to do that.   It's still true that we're accessing deeper and broader layers of the psyche here, where we realize that Healing can take place instantly when we operate impersonally.   Some useful words to remember might be Surrender, Grace, and Intention.   The next two readings (15-22 June and 11 June-29 July) are still very relevant and important.

Zoisite, a stone of many colors, will lead you onward and upward.   Work with all it's colors in turn - green, pink (Thulite), green and pink mixed (Clinozoisite), green with Ruby (Anyolite), blue-purple (Tanzanite), rich yellow-browns, and any other color you find it in - each color will take you the next step.   We ran into a gorgeous Ruby Zoisite pendant the other day, about an inch long.   The artist left the stone unpolished to show off the lovely Ruby crystal faces.   The artist is Sue Killins - if you're interested in the pendant, please contact her.
Mercury-Venus-Saturn initiations occurred at 27-29 Cancer on 25-26 June, opposite Chiron, triggering the culmination of January's Mercury-Venus-Chiron initiations at 29 Capricorn.   Ceres was finishing her retreat at the time, going direct at 12 Scorpio, "It's just window-dressing."   Please see The Water Bearer for details of this Saturn-Chiron cycle - these oppositions span 1986-2006, making this an important millstone or milestone (your choice, it depends on whether you focus your attention on the challenges of the work at hand or the rewards from your progress to date - we need to do both actually) in our personal journey and in our Mother Planet's journey.   The initiations sit in an 18th-harmonic (Authenticity) relationship with Uranus, master of Integrity, and implement the loss of the Veil (Neptune-Ketu) implied in the 1/1/2000 chart.   The Saturn-Chiron opposition is exact at 1am PDT on Thursday 21 July at 1 Leo, "Under emotional stress, blood rushes to yer head."   The Full Moon occurs 3 hours later at 29 Capricorn, "A woman reading tea leaves."   The influence will be stretched into the weekend and beyond, as the Moon crosses the Saturn-Chiron axis at 7am PDT Thursday, then the Sun crosses Chiron at 12am PDT Saturday (midnight Friday night PDT) and Saturn at 10am PDT on Saturday 23 July, and Moon-Mars squares both Saturn and Chiron from 8am PDT through 2pm PDT on Wednesday 27 July.   The Mars-Chiron square is exact at 7am PDT on Thursday 28 July, and the Mars-Saturn square at 7am PDT on Sunday 31 July.

23-25 June 2005
Sustainability of human culture has now been made a prominent issue even in the US, even though the message hasn't gotten through yet to the Head Cheese.   The issue will appear less pessimistic over the next few months.   Not that it's "all downhill from here," there will continue to be setbacks and appropriate calls to action through the end of the decade and beyond, but the darkest hour has passed.   This is also true on a personal level - that is, the sustainability of your own lifestyle.
Ocean Picture Stone, a Jasper found only on the western coast of Canada, carries the synergy of the Planet.
At 12 Scorpio Ceres ends its retreat across 12-26 Scorpio (the Pisces decanate of Scorpio) at 6am PDT on Sunday 26 June.   12 Scorpio is "An assemply of officials at an Embassy Ball" and 26 Scorpio is "First Peoples making camp in new territory."   The retreat began 20 March, and the full shadow period runs from 10 January through 8 September.

15-22 June 2005
A relatively quiet period, at least by the big-picture perspective we like to take.   Of course, when the big picture is quiet, there are always plenty of little pictures that come out of the woodwork and loom large, and of course we all have our individual personal schedules too.   But for most of us, this is Big Sigh time as we lean back, put our feet up, and relax a bit.   We've earned it, doncha think?
We could talk a lot about that concept of earning, but instead we'll just say that if you don't feel great gratitude for the gifts Spirit has bestowed so far this year, we've got a recommendation for you.   Of course, if your own personal work has been intense and continues to feel hard, that's extra.   But even in that case, our recommendation still holds, because our own personal work is additional to the global work that we talk about here in NOW, not alternative to it.   Here's what we recommend.   Sit quietly and say to yourself, out loud if you can, "May the Angel of Grace please enter my body."   Then sit still for several more minutes, watching for a shift in your body sense, in the way your body feels.   Don't intellectualize it, and don't worry if you can't feel it - you've gotten the gift anyway.   We learn Faith through small successes at "letting go and letting Goddess," so if you can feel it, then it'll count as a small success and as an increment to your Trust.   If you don't feel the Angel of Grace entering your body, try another Angel that may operate on a less subtle level - the Angel of Strength maybe, or the Angel of Clarity.
The Big Picture is this.   At the end of February, we (may have) got a glimpse of what it will be like to live without our Burdens, to live in Grace.   Then between 25 February and 14 June, we got to review all of the Burdens we still haven't fully let go of.   It might help you to list them - what demons and heavies afflicted you in March and April and May and, especially, the first two weeks of June?   Those are the demons and heavies that are leaving us.   Between now and October we'll meet them again, but this time it will be different, we'll feel much more like we have the upper hand with them.   As long as we remember that it's we who release them and not they who release us, this new meeting will be much easier than the one we've just been through.   Then after October we'll encounter them again, but this time we'll recognize them as our friends, and meet them in confidence that they have been our teachers, not our demons, and we'll know that we've now graduated, and with our hands on one another's backs we can go have a cuppa with them.
Don't miss the three new readings below that start with 11 June.
Hubnerite is a great aid to relaxation.   If you sometimes have difficulty relaxing when you have too much to do and too little time to get it done, remember this.   You succeed by always doing the most important thing in each moment.   But y'know what?   You'll never get to know what the most important thing is unless you're relaxed!
Uranus is now on retreat in 7-11 Pisces.   See 5-14 June in http://www.jbuss.com/history.htm for details.

11-29 June 2005
More nurturing and self-care in our thinking, and more compassion for others.
Mercury enters Cancer, 12am PDT on Saturday 11 June.

11 June through 29 July 2005
Action will be much more direct and effective than it's been for the last six weeks, as long as you act directly (nonviolently of course) from your instincts, and don't think about it too much.   We know in our Belly far far more than our mindbones can ever process, as Wisdom resides in our Belly, and Wisdom understands the future perfectly well.   So while tidily planning and executing might accommodate the next few weeks or even months, and please your banker and your boss, it's much less likely to be a successful strategy for dealing with the next few years.   For that you'll have to trust your Gut.   One great thing about the Gut, is that it lets us know right away when we've taken a wrong step.   So this is a great time to learn to set pride aside, back up, make whatever apologies or amends or renegotiations are necessary, and try a different direction.   You may even find yourself doing that several times before you get it just right.   Persevere till it feels perfect, because it's really important to your future.

Mars enters Aries, 8pm PDT on Saturday 11 June.   Note that Juno enters Taurus at the same moment (see 11 June-13 August).

11 June through 13 August 2005
We been breaking new ground on many new fronts since mid-April.   This is consolidation time.   We've been kinda tentatively feeling our way around, but now we'll be stepping out more boldly.   These are not minor shifts in our lives, these are BIG changes in the way we heal, the way we surrender to Grace, the way we accept Joy, the way we release struggle, and the way we stand in our Truth.   Enjoy the hell out of em!

Juno enters Taurus, 8pm PDT on Saturday 11 June.   Note that Mars enters Aries at the same moment (see 11 June-29 July).

5-14 June 2005
If you're tempted to go into either rebellion or obedience here, stop and ask yourself whether you can get by on integrity instead.   You're likely to be confronted with opportunities to be more forthright than you usually are, and it's very important that you consciously accept those opportunities, and remove your mask of non-involvement.   Not every issue is yours - there isn't enough time in the century.   But do look to see what you feel most strongly about this week.   Then declare an intention to make a small but significant contribution to resolving that issue, without efforting.   Don't even try to sleep a regular schedule this week.   If you aint sleepy, get up and do something creative.   The creative effort will be more restful than the fitful sleep you would (or wouldn't) have gotten.   If everything around you gets to moving too fast, do several Kegels, they slow time down so its easier to deal.
We've now witnessed the places in our lives (and in the life of the Planet) where we must release any sense of burden that we've been feeling, so we can shift from things happening to us, to co-creating what we actually want in our lives.   Now for the next five months we get to look over these places at a less panicky pace.   As you do, keep your focus on loving and gentle, particularly with yerself.

Uranus begins its annual retreat at 4pm PDT on Tuesday 14 June at 11 Pisces, "People seeking illumination."   There are minor or alternate peaks (aspects from the Moon) at 5am PDT on Monday 6 June and 4pm PDT on Monday 13 June.   The full shadow period spans 27 February 2005 through 2 March 2006, and 7-11 Pisces.   7-11 is considered a very lucky combination.   The retreat itself ends 16 November at 7 Pisces, the "Cross lying on rocks" of our Juno-Uranus initiation on 25 February (see Relationship 2002-2005).
This synergy will most impact your natal planets at 7-11 of the mutable signs.
Dorothy Roeder says that Selenite helps to "integrate the dimensions at this very critical stage of transformation for Earth and humanity.   Everything is flowing easier and faster and Selenite can help you use that flow, understand it, and merge with it.   It helps organize the light and makes it easier for the cells to align with it, so that each of the four bodies can have its own appropriate vibrational level of light available.   It eases any confusion and difficulty the physical and emotional bodies have in using the more intense and complex flow.

1pm to 3pm on 8 June 2005
No, you aren't getting it.   Of course you're already in integrity, we all are.   But here the opportunity is to move into greater integrity by recognizing your sense of superiority and being loving with it.   Yes, that's confusing, and confusion is good, it's a sign of growth.   There's nothing you can do here, except pray for a breakthrough to a higher level.
Moon trines stationary Uranus (see 5-14 June above).

29 May through 4 July 2005
We've gotten more in tune with who we really are, and here we're seeing the resulting changes rippling through our lives.   We now have a deeper relationship between Spirit and our this-lifetime Identity, and less entanglement with the Identities of our peers and other fellow travelers, and more clarity around Community.   We have a new orientation to competition and lack - we simply no longer abide them.   In the old paradigm, Communities were in competition with one another, often life-and-death competition.   In the new paradigm, Communities interlock and support one another, including communities of "haves" who are living unsustainably and communities of "have-nots" who suffer the consequences of their brethren's greed.
Venus-Pluto culmination begins at 3am PDT on Sunday May 29, lasting till 4 July.   The corresponding initiation was 3 January 2005 at 23 Sagittarius, "Immigrants entering."

5 June 2005 through 10 July 2006
Here we experience the ramifications of a greater integration between our yin willingness to make a safe space for ourself, and our yang willingness to create what we need and want from life.
A Mars-Pallas culmination that begins at 9am on Sunday 5 June and lasts through 10 July 2006.   The cycle was initiated 7 January 2004 at 14 Aries, "A serpent coiling near a man and a woman."

1 June through 13 August 2005
Another big blow to fundamentalism (see 18 April to 25 May below).   Our comprehension of the Sacred has been relatively frozen since 26 March, and this now thaws.
Vesta enters Gemini, 10am PDT on Wednesday 1 June.

30 May through 4 June 2005
Beware of upper limits here.   Upper limits occur when we grow too fast, and the lack of familiar landmarks makes us feel lost, and it can be unsettling.   One way to deal with this, is to treat ourselves like royalty during this span, giving ourselves a holiday from drive and guilt and even if necessary responsibility.   Be particularly watchful for guilt.   Guilt is a perversion of Grief, and it's Grief that leads us to freedom.   When you feel guilty about something, particularly if someone else wants you to feel guilty about it, look to see what it is that you're losing, then grieve that loss.   It's not good to rush grief out the door, but another approach to upper limits is to recognize that we're just growing leaps and bounds, take time to breathe, and enjoy the excitement of it.   There'll be plenty of time to weave security back into our lives later on.   It's probably a good plan to rest quite a bit here, since the excitement amps even higher toward mid-month.   Like climbing a steep hillside, two steps up then stop to rest.   Much of the growth we're dealing with here is about the transition from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius.   This means shifting our focus from emotion to intuition, from empathy to integrity, from identity to community, and of course sympathy and understanding, harmony and trust abounding.

Jupiter finishes its annual retreat at 1am PDT on Sunday 5 June at 9 Libra, "Three old masters hanging in an art gallery."   The full shadow period spans 6 November 2004 through 2 September 2005, and 9-19 Libra (the Aquarian decanate of Libra).   See also 29 May through 4 June above, and 7-14 June below.

29 May through 4 June 2005
Keep yer eyes open this week.   There's a significant threshold here, a portal into deeper relationship between Spirit and our this-lifetime Identity, less entanglement with the Identities of our peers and other fellow travelers, and more clarity around Community.   If competition or lack arises, let it go immediately.   In the old paradigm, Communities were in competition with one another, often life-and-death competition.   In the new paradigm, Communities interlock and support one another.   As we tune into parallel-lifetime Identities, it becomes clear how competition and scarcity are self-sabotage.
On the global level, this translates into more visible public concern for the billions of folks whose current lifetimes will be disrupted by climate change.   As more of the World's affluent people tune into their own parallel-lifetime identities and recognize that it is they whose lifetimes will be disrupted, there will be fewer gated "communities" and more people working more effectively for equality.

Venus-Pluto culmination begins at 3am PDT on Sunday May 29, lasting till 4 July.   The corresponding initiation was 3 January 2005 at 23 Sagittarius, "Immigrants entering."   This culmination makes a grand cross with the Mars-Pallas culmination that begins at 9am on Sunday 5 June, just as Jupiter ends a retreat in 9-19 Libra (see 30 May through 4 June below), its station making a waning quintile to Pluto.   This Jupiter-Pluto cycle was initiated on 2 December 1994 at 29 Scorpio, "An Indian mother pleading to the chief for the lives of her children" (Jones 1953).   The next Jupiter-Pluto cycle begins 11 December 2007 at 19 Sadge, "A fat boy mowing the lawn."   The Mars-Pallas cycle was initiated 7 January 2004 at 14 Aries, "A serpent coiling near a man and a woman."   Meanwhile, Mars makes a waning trine to Saturn.   This Mars-Saturn cycle initiated 24 May 2004 at 24 Cancer, "A woman and two men on a bit of sunlit land facing south."   The next Mars-Saturn cycle initiates mid-June 2006 at 9 Leo, "Glass blowers."   This will be a Mars-Vesta-Saturn triple initiation squared by Jupiter from Scorpio.   Sphalerite grounds us to the many dimensions of present moment reality, balances yin with yang, and brings clarity.

29 May through 4 July 2005
While grace still flows to those who perceive and seek opportunity where others see limitation, new values introduce themselves here which make Community more avant garde.

28 May through 10 June 2005
More flexibility in thinking, and a great gift coming as it does at this time - see "28 April through 25 May" below.
Mercury enters Gemini, 4am PDT on May 28.

26 May 2005 till 5 February 2006
Insight, Shaktipat.   A rare connection between the Sacred and the Mind.   Thought more often profanes the sacred, but here thought is uplifted to unexpected, sophisticated, exalted places.   These surprises will recur for about nine months.
Mercury-Vesta initiation, 1am PDT on Friday May 27 at 28 Taurus, "a woman past her change experiences a new love" (Rudhyar 1973).   Orange Calcite "aids in integrating your four bodies by helping the mental body to understand how they fit together..." (Roeder 1994 p.65).

28 April through 25 May 2005
For the last month we been feeling kinda proud of our fundamentalism - the ways we believe that we understand "how it works."   It's a relief, aint it?   Doubt's such a pain in the butt.   Not that we haven't been through some befuddlements this month anyway, but that background of knowing has been a nice crutch.   Unfortunately, that season's over on 25 May, as we begin our descent into confusion.   It'll be several weeks before reality starts to conflict painfully with our beliefs about it, but, forewarned, we can start our homework now.   Basically, all we need to do is stop ourself whenever we begin to make any statement about anything, and reframe it as a question.   Easy practice, actually, though it can get kinda messy.   It's very much worth it though, because the next cycle is a real liberator.   Between now and early October, the more we can clear out our beliefs and get to what the Buddhist's call Beginner's Mind - cultivated naivete and curiosity - the more liberation awaits us.   Now, while the demise of Certainty may feel uncomfortable for us as individuals, it will be a huge blessing for the Planet, though its demise may feed a healing crisis in the short term, as the Head Lizards feel the intellectual and psychic bases of their power eroding.   But fear not, the backlash from this healing crisis will accelerate the erosion of their power.
Mercury phitile Jupiter, 8am PDT on Wednesday 25 May.   Initiation was 29 September 2004 at 1 Libra, "A butterfly made perfect by a dart through it" (Jones 1953).   The next Mercury-Jupiter initiation will be 6 October 2005 at 26 Libra, "An eagle and a large white dove turning one into the other."   Anhydrite "is not corrosive or destructive, but it does dissolve negative or stuck energies as an acid would by gently moving into it and breaking it down..." [Roeder 1994 p.49].

21-22 May 2005
Another turning point in our Ascension into the heiros gamos, or "inner marriage" between our yin and yang synergies.   Relationship, which saw rapid changes in form during the 1990s, as it did in the 1960s, has now stabilized, and will be relatively stable through around 2027.   So the period of arduous inner work that we've been engaged in since this cycle began in early December, should be leveling out.   Our most important relationship is our relationship with ourself, so this is not necessarily about other people.   After this period of hard work, it's good to relax into just appreciating ourself, and letting the World mirror that appreciation back to us.   If you encounter confusion, be loving and gentle with it - it's a sign that your old, limiting paradigms are releasing their grasp on you.   The cycle will culminate between 31 August and 6 November 2005.   That's the time when our energies will coordinate on their own to make big changes in our internal, personal, local, and global spaces.   Between now and then, don't force the issue, just be lovingly and gently present with whatever's going on or coming down.   This is big.   This is the descent of Goddess energy into our own flesh-and-blood bodies.   Think of it as a Virgin Rebirth if you're inclined to think in those terms, but this one is a little different.   It's about all of us embracing the godseed of our inner healer, not somebody else birthing an external healer.
The Venus-Mars cycle reaches its first-quarter square at 16 Gemini at 7pm PDT on Sunday 22 May, perilously close to the last out-of-bounds Venus-Mars initiation in May 2002 at 19 Gemini.   This will temporarily retrigger all the relationship difficulties we encountered in 2002 - if that happens to you, stay conscious of the fact that it's just a flashback, not a reversion at all.   The current cycle began 5 December 2004 at 17 Scorpio, "A woman the father of her own child," and this normal 2-year Venus-Mars cycle initiated a longer 35-year cycle - reread Perfect Pictures and Relationship 2002-2005.   Note also that Neptune is still stationary at 18 Aquarius, squaring the 17-Scorpio Venus-Mars initiation point and infusing it with spiritual energy, while trining the Venus-Mars square.   And the Full Moon which follows the Chiron-stationary New Moon occurs a few hours later.

20 May through 6 June 2005
A window where we're likely to hear important new information about the destruction of the life-sustaining abilities of the Planet.   Every little bit contributes to what will ultimately be a backlash against greed.   It's a good idea to pray for the Planet's gentle and loving restoration or Ascension, or whatever feels right in your own heart, because the longer we delay the backlash, the more violent it will be.
Culmination of the Mercury-Ceres cycle, 12am PDT on Saturday 21 May.   The cycle began 27 September 2004 at 28 Virgo, "A bald-headed man."

13-19 May 2005
The challenge here is honesty, and releasing judgement.   Your negative opinions of anyone else or of yourself are never true.   There is a perspective from which those negative thoughts can be replaced by appreciation of the other person's and your own unique talents.   Find it.   In between where you are now, and getting there, lies confusion and paranoia.   Be loving with this, and don't try to think your way out of it by making any conclusions.   It's not about figuring it out, it's about opening your heart, and rediscovering your childhood sense of curiosity and wonder.   If you succeed, your relationships will be forever transformed.
Neptune enters its annual retreat at 5pm PDT on Thursday 19 May, at 18 Aquarius, "A man unmasked."   The retreat lasts till 25 October and spans 15-18 Aquarius.   The entire shadow period spans 27 January 2005 till 14 February 2006.   15 Aquarius is "Two Lovebirds sitting onna fence," the same degree as the Juno-Neptune initiation of 7 January 2005 (see Relationship 2002-2005).

12-14 May 2005 through mid-October 2006
A two-year cycle begins where Power reconsiders itself and seeks to move more into Integrity.
Set down your chains and lend your voices only to sounds of freedom
No longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from
Fill your lives with love and brav'ry and we shall lead a life uncommon
There are plenty of people who pray for peace
But if praying were enough it would have come to be
Let your words enslave no one and the heavens will hush themselves
To hear our voices ring out clear with sounds of freedom
Come on you unbelievers move out of the way
There is a new army coming and we are armed with faith

--Jewell, Life Uncommon
Uranus initiates Mars, 5am PDT on Sunday 15 May, at 11 Pisces, "Men seeking illumination."

9-11 May 2005
After last week's intense healing, the opportunity during the first half of this week is to be playful with what was formerly painful for you.   The overarching theme is about releasing the shame that has kept us from fully expressing our unique and natural self in public, as an important step toward finding our Community.
At 24 Virgo, Pallas finishes the retreat she began on 1 February 2005.   The full shadow period spans 15 November 2004 to 6 August 2005 and 24 Virgo through 13 Libra, activating your natal planets between 24 Mutable and 13 Cardinal.   The energy peaks at 7pm PDT on Wednesday 11 May.     24 Virgo is "Mary and her white lamb," and 13 Libra is "Children blowing soap bubbles."

2-8 May 2005
If despair or discouragement arises, be loving with the part of you that's feeling it, don't be the part of you that's feeling it.   This is big.   Make the effort to split yourself into a lover and a beloved, where your beloved is your disenchanted self.   A much bigger re-integration will follow if you do.   This is about releasing your attachment to the negative thought patterns that have followed you around all your life, and instead learning to listen to the body's instincts as a channel for your intuition.   Since it's Mother's Day, this is an obviously great time for healing seemingly intractable mother issues.   Do this by being kind and understanding with your historical child.
Chiron begins his annual retreat Sunday 8 May 7pm PDT at 4 Aquarius, "Hindu healer."   On retreat till 5 October at 28 Capricorn, full shadow period 26 January 2005 to 17 January 2006, affecting planets between 28 Cardinal and 4 Fixed.

1 May thru 4 June 2005
Signs are subtle that the Planet really does have value, and that there really are forces at work toward making survival sustainable, but they are there if you look for them.   Same for compassion and nurturance.
Culmination of Venus-Ceres cycle which began 13 November 2004 at 19 Libra, "Gang of robbers in hiding."

27 April thru 27 May 2005
The opportunity for us will be to see the ways we use fundamentalism - the belief that we actually understand anything - to protect ourself from channeling what we fear we wont want to hear.   Better to hear it sooner than later.   And very important for us to unstop our channel.
Culmination of Mercury-Jupiter cycle which began September 2004 at 1 Libra, "A butterfly made perfect by a dart through it."
